This. F&I is a huge profit center. Extended warranties, financing, lifetime tire shine, wtf ever they can sell you for a few more dollars a month is low effort and high profit.

I really liked my last F&I guy. He was aware I was paying with a check and would not finance any portion of the purchase. He pulled the packet of add on junk out, said "you don't want any of this, do you?" I said no, and that was that.

They always hate me because in the last 30 years, I've never bought a single thing from them. The one time I wanted something, it wasn't available. I bought a 2018 F150 STX and asked for Sirius Radio, figured that would make her day. Nope! Not even an option on that truck. I was shocked. So the streak continues.

I bought the lifetime warranty on my 2012, but they price matched the best I could find online. My son drives it now, so there's still a chance it will pay off, but so far it's been boringly reliable. I was skeptical back then due to having lemoned out a Grand Cherokee a few years before and had little intention of returning to Mopar and a lifetime seemed reasonable given the length of time I intended to keep it. But 12 years later, the only repair was a coil pack.

I also leased my wife's car in 2015, as it was roughly $1k cheaper to lease then pay it off at the 13 month mark than simply write a check that day.

Yeah, I feel you there. I bought a 2011 F150 XLT used, didn't get any warranty. Needed a new engine after 5000 miles. PO probably didn't change the oil much. So bought a new engine and that thing was just cursed with one problem after another. After that, wife and I are soured towards used vehicles. It will sound good, then I'll remind her about the cursed F150. So haven't bought used since.

You do realize that the F&I guy get's a percentage of the spread over the bank loan buy rate, right? Just bought a new Chevy..'25 model...The clown in the F&I office fed me that crap about bank rates, to which I produced a credit union voucher for 5.24% and SUDDENLY...he found a bank to do it for 4.9% Funny how that works.
Yes I do realize that. I have also required them to show me their buy rate before as well. You can usually get it even lower if you know what interest rate THEY got, before they added on their own points. At a certain point, I am just done. Admittedly, I had 0 patience left for any of their BS and at that point, I was done.

For the past few years they flipped it all and screwed over 10's of thousands of people for greed. Not their normal greed but MEGA greed. Now, the tables are turning back and they would rather find new ways to screw us instead of just selling the overloaded lot of vehicles and getting themselves out of the hole THEIR greed created.

But I guess it's all fine because they'll get our tax money when they need bailed out, yet again.

I paid $15 I think for a Consumers Report list of dealers. You put in your info (color and other options) and they send it out to dealers in your area. It goes to the internet manager and they know its a bid kind of thing. This has worked VERY well for me - I know there are others that offer similar programs
How can you stand all those slimeballs instantly texting, calling, and emailing you? You open the floodgates when you do that.

About this time last year, I was on the hunt for my truck and did a bunch of research, and negotiating with several local dealers. After discovering Mark Dodge on these forums, I reached out to @AnthonyRI . Explained exactly what I wanted and he presented the best price by far. Even considering the travel costs to and from Pittsburgh, PA to Lake Charles, LA, it was still several thousand cheaper to order my truck through MD. They also gave me a great price on my trade (2020 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited). When my order came in, it was a super smooth process and most hassle free vehicle purchase of my life. If you haven't reached out to Anthony at Mark Dodge yet, what are you waiting for?
