How hard is it to get behind the factory radio in a 2008 Ram?

I am contemplating putting in an amp by myself instead of paying a shop to do it. I want to keep my factory radio but interface an amp with it. PAC makes a great converter that plugs into the back of the factory radio and has 2 sets of preouts. I am confident in my abilities to run a power wire from the engine back to the rear of the car but I am extremely leery about opening up the dash. Are there instructions out there somewhere that shows how, step by step, to remove the dash to get to the factory radio? I want to save myself some money and doing it myself would REALLY help. Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated as well

There are also a few screws under the cup holders. The panel seems like its a ***** to get off, but take your time. It comes off pretty easy once you get it figured out.

It's easy to get back there. Lots of room. I'd throw an iPod adapter back there while you're at it.

No screws. Just pops right out. If you put some sort of flat piece in the bottom left or right of the bezel, pop it out, and then work your way around the bezel. Disconnect all the connections, and then the radio is just basically there.

The screws vary. Its odd..........my 08 didn't have them. Wendy's truck - I can't remember (I pulled hers out at a GTG). But I have heard a LOT of guys say there are 2 at the bottom, and there are spots for them.

Like they said, it's not hard. I had two screws to remove under the lower opening over the floor mounted console. There seems to be some variation on how many, if any, you may have.

Once those are out, it's just a matter of inserting a plastic panel tool into one of the gaps between the bezel sides or top and the dash panel. I used a folded up rag to protect the dash panel from any scuffs.

Good luck!
