Been trying to figure out for a while why voice commands won't work for music related commands (song, genre, artist etc..) on my 5.0 uconnect. Seems it might have something to do with the number of songs. I have about 4500 tunes (mostly mp3's) on an ipod and the same on a 32gb flash drive. Is that too many songs for the stereo to deal with possibly? How many song do you all listen to and using what source (aux, bluetooth, USB?) to connect music to your stereo.

I'm not sure of the number, but if I hit play today, it'd play for 31 days solid.

I only have 350 or so...but they're all lossless files. I have zero compressed music files. If I want to listen to ****** sounding music I just turn on Sirius. lol

Man, that's the truth. That was the reason I didn't renew Sirius, sounded like ****. I can't believe FM stereo sounds better than satellite. Just sounds backwards.:****sweak:

11104 in iTunes. The uConnect 5.0 in my truck is finnicky as hell. Some stuff doesnt even show up on the head unit but I can browse it on my iPod just fine.

BT from phone work very well? I know it isn't the same system but on the Ford MySync we have better luck with the 30 gigs of music on my phone rather than hooking up an Ipod.

The voice commands for MP3 on the 5.0 simply do not work. I have tried a USB with 2 songs all the way to my Ipod with 4000. I even emailed chrysler support. Useless answer and a page from the Owners manual that does not work either.

I think it to still too new to know. Hopefully the '14 manuals will have more information.

Most of my music is 256, but I have some older stuff that's lower. It's good enough for my vehicles. I like XM though... I like it for the sheer variety, sound quality isn't great, but with news and such, who cares?

That's my thoughts...on a drive SQ goes out the window no matter how good your files or system is. Wind noise, exhaust noise, other cars, etc just makes everything sound bad. I have lossless files for critical listening when the truck is stopped and turned off. I like satellite for the no commercials and variety of channels when I'm driving.

I called uConnect system support (1-877-855-8400) and they have strict instructions not to talk to Canadians (they ask for your VIN first and then they know where you are). I guess the Canadian dealerships didn't negotiate a contract for uconnect tech assistance so they literally will not offer a word of advice even.

trying to get answers on this is like; :beatdeadhorse5:

Reviving this thread to see if anybody new can chime in. If I install only 1500 songs on a 32GB thumb (flash) USB drive, then the uConnect voice controls work (on my 5.0 system). If I install 5000 songs, the voice controls don't work any more! - seems like it's too much for the uConnect to handle. Is there a sweet spot in the middle without me spending hours slowly reducing songs? I'm strictly wondering about song files (eg. mp3's) on those little portable USB thumb drives, not an iPod/smart phone or other music sources.

Holy sh*t, that's a lot of music. I'm guessing the voice commands won't work using a 500GB Seagate hardrive with that much data but let us know when you try it what happens. I don't have steering wheel controls either so that's why I'd like to get the VC working better.
