Hey gang,

Did some research on this, and was hoping I wouldn't run into the problem that I have.

Anyways, I have an '11 Ram, with 18" aftermarket rims (0 offset) and a level (Bilsteins set at max.) Been running with 33's (12.5" wide) for the past little while, but decided those weren't cutting it anymore. Had the truck in today to get 35's, but of course they wouldn't fit. Really want the 35's with my current rims, so just wondering what my options are here? I've seen other guys manage 35's with just a level.

Can/should I go with back spacing? Would a 4" suspension lift solve this problem? How about a 1.25" body lift (which I have, just not installed)?

Thanks,

not sure if the 1.25bl will help clear the 35's i know glockram has a level 3'' body and clears 35's but he may also have more backspace on the rims.

Ha, I was thinking the same thing. I haven't actually picked up the truck yet, so not sure if maybe it was an issue with the shop that I brought it. They mentioned they didn't have much experience with adjustable levelling kits, and seemed pretty convinced that the 35's wouldn't fit from the get go. Maybe they have the Bilsteins set at 0, :console:

Im mentioned again! I love you guys lol...well o.p. im going to try and help you from my experience. I had a 2.5" level which is about the same as 2.8" Bilsteins. I put 35's on there and rubbed the heck out of the fender well and the little metal tab left over from the door. I was/am running 35x12.50 nitto trail grapps and a 20x10 wheel with 4.79" of backspace and a-18 offset. I cut/trimmed to make them fit and they did just not at full lock. I was going to just do the 1.25" body lift but after measuring I still saw that wouldnt be enough. I had to factor in flexing, and it would have rubbed still. So the 3" BL was the way I went and on top of the level I clear my 35's just fine! But I will say this! Its all about the tire you go for, a less aggressive tread will have less of a chance to rub. Hope this helps, any questions just ask away.

Musclemckeester fit a 295-65-20 which is close to a 35x11.50 i think on his truck with a 2" level. I dont know what the metrics would be on an 18" wheel though.

Thanks for all the input, really appreciate it. So I picked up my truck today, and after speaking with the tech. who had worked on it, I found there was only an issue with the driver side rubbing. Some sort of wiring harness that kind of sticks out?
I know spacers are an option, but I'd like to avoid going that route, especially for a daily driver.
Anyways, as of now, I think I'm leaning towards the RC 4" suspension lift. I know a 6" would definitely do the trick, but I don't really want to be like every other guy here in Alberta, lol.

Its all about the backspacing.

Exactly what Butch ^^^ said above.
Glock, had -18 offset and rubbed, yet 4x4Hemi had 0/+1 offset and doesn't.

It's all in the offset no doubt about it

I'm sure you could hide the wiring harness...although I can't think of one that runs by the wheels

Hey guys,

Pulled the trigger on the RCX 4" lift. I know it isn't the best out there, but I like the fact it's cheaper and should be more than suitable for what I use the truck for.

Back on the topic of 35's, I've been debating going with a different tire this time around. Right now I have the **** Cepek's FC II's. And while I think they look pretty sweet, have great wear (10+K and hardly any signs of wear), and aren't noisy at all, I don't find them to be too great on snow and ice. I know an A/T isn't going to be spectacular on snow and ice, obviously, but I think they could be better.

So going off the same criteria, I think I have it narrowed down to the Cooper Discoverer A3 and Goodyear Duratracs. Some other honourable mentions for me would be the Nitto Terra Grappler (wear too quick though from what I've seen) and Toyo Open Country (not aggressive looking enough for what I'm going for).

Just looking for some input. If there wasn't snow on the ground pretty much 8 months of the year around here I would definitely stick to what I have.

Thanks again fellas,

Goodyear Duratracs..especially if your talking about snow. Good all around A/T and still a tad aggressive! But not to much road noise either!

How are they for wear? Just reading some more reviews, and that seems to be the main complaint. Should've mentioned too, that a lot of my mileage is from highway use.

Well for a good wear tire alot of people will say Nitto Terra Grapplers, Ive heard some cases of people getring around 50k miles out of them. As for the Duratracs Ive seen anywhere from 35k-40k!

Ok, thanks. Now I'm starting to reconsider the Terra's .

Definitely good tires..good wear too! Talk to bigbadram1500, she has the Terra Grapss and says they are wearing great!

The positive responses on those Terra's are GREAT!
That is all I read too!
That they wear evenly and last a LONG time.

Something I am considering to use for winter as I heard they are pretty decent in snow as well
