Im no expert but have heard of people adding leaf springs and/or try getting stiffer shocks.

there is more than just springs and shocks that make a heavy duty truck a heavy duty truck. bigger heavier duty frame, larger heavier duty axles, bigger leaf springs, and bigger heavier duty suspension components to name a few.

you can get a LITTLE bit more capacity out of your truck with a set of airbags or helper springs. but those are more for reducing rear end squat rather than increasing load capacity.

trying to carry more weight than your truck is designed to is not only illegal but if you get into an accident, your insurance will not cover you.

if you need the capacity of a 3/4 or 1 ton truck, then your best bet is to start saving all your pennies, and trade in the 1/2 ton for one.

The only way is to get a 2500. Its not just the suspension that's stronger...its the frame too. The 1500 frame wont be able to tolerate the additional weight you need. You can make the 1500 keep from sagging so much by using airbags are stiffer springs but it wont increase your load capacity.

Also keep in mind if you're ever overloaded and get into an accident it will be your fault no matter What. Insurance wont pay a dime for your vehicle and you'll prob get a hefty fine too
