How to remove HVAC controls?

I'm trying to vinyl wrap the radio bezel but removing the HVAC controls isn't going well. I removed the screws from the back and it seems like it's loose but it gets hung up and wont come out. How does this come apart? Pic is from the internet.

I have looked at the other forum and cannot figure out how to remove the knobs/guts from the bezel. Has anyone done it? I am trying not to break this thing.
