Does anyone on here know about repairing, or can recommend a place that repairs Halogen HVAC leak detectors? I took a chance on a TIF XP-1 Halogen Hawk detector at a garage sale dirt cheap, ($5). It does power on, but immediately starts to alarm and won't stop. Changing the sensitivity does nothing. It does have three probe sensor tips, but swapping them makes no difference either. If i take off the sensor tip and put my finger across the end, basically shorting out the probe, it stops alarming and appears to be in a normal state. Before I spend 6 - 7x what I paid for it for new tips as a test, figured I'd try to get some input. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions, or should I just trash it?
