I know theres tons of threads on this, but Im completely stumped here.

So my problems- The heat barely works, its kinda warm on the passengers side, and less warm on the drivers side. I tried flushing the heater core multiple times, but nothing. Also the AC is cool on the drivers side and less cool on the passengers side.

So it sounds like a blend door problem, right? But I took my dash off and can see the box, I looked and the bottom blend doors are fine. I can feel the top ones and they seem solid too. I moved the doors and they sound like theyre all there with no pieces missing. Maybe the heater core is extremely blocked and flushing isnt doing anything? And I think I have other problems with the AC, its got a new compressor but somethings not right with it and when I bought it there was no refrigerant in it which makes me think there was a leak(dealer said they just replaced the compressor and never bothered to fill it up....). What do you guys think? I have no idea what to do now...

Some time the blend doors dont seal up leaving a small gap. Does the doors flex at all? Check out truckutv.com see heater treater ad and they talk all about the problem. Not to dis our Dodge, but Dodge can not make plastic. Dashes, blend door all plastic.

I'm having issues with my 02 AC as well. I plan on taking the dash off like you and replace the evaporator core, while I'm at it I need to replace the recirc door as well since that broke.

Ok. So how do I go about this evacuating the AC, Ive never done it before and I know little about the AC system. Can I just get a pump from autozone and what do I do with it? Then when Im done, how much refrigerant do I put in it, and do I need to put in that oil too?

I thought my issue was the blenddoor, but aparently not lol. I guess ill take the whole box apart and replace the heater core....

the ac needs to be done by someone who is train and has the certification to work with refridgerant. it needs to be recoved and reclaimed. then the bad parts need to be replace along with a new filter drier. the it needs to be pulled into a vacuum. After that it can be charged back up.

Have the shop Evac the system, take it home do the repair, then have them recharge it. If you go to a good shop with good equipment the oil will be injected on the recharge. Watch them and make sure they put dye in it for future use. They hate when people do their own repairs cause they see money blowing out the door.

Texasram just thought of something see if you can take apart the box in place. With out disconnecting the evap. Don't know if you can but probably worth a try. Be careful not to flex the evap lines to much.

Ok. Ill take a look tomorrow. I know the top part bolts to the firewall but im not sure how the heater core/ evap lines connect to the box and if the top part can be removed with them sitting there. Thanks!

Well it doesnt look like the top can be removed while the box is still there from looking at pics online. There are screws on the backs side of the box, and of course they point up, so I dont think theres any way to get to them.

Think I hopefully got it all fixed. Tore it all apart and all the doors were perfect. The only thing I suspected was a TON of leaves and crap blocking the evaporator, more on one side than the other. I went ahead and replaced the evaporator and heater core just to be sure. The AC still starts out about 10 degrees cooler on the drivers side than the passengers for some reason, but once it cools off it all seems to be pretty even. The fan blows much better also, hopefully this fixed the issue with my heat too...
