I can't believe I was able to fit 20x9 33x12.50 wheels on my stock 12' 1500 reg cab

Ok so as many of you know I use to have 22" OEM SRT-10 Rims on my truck.

Well I had been trying to sell my SRT-10 wheels for a few weeks now, but not having any stock wheels to put on after I sold them, I ran into the issue of having to find a buyer for my srt-10 wheels while finding a seller to buy a new set of wheels from, and have both of them be local and meet me at the same time.

Well I managed to find a buyer for the srt wheels and a guy selling a nice set of Fuel wheels. The only problem was the Fuels were 20x9 and they had 33x12.50 Federal Couragia M/T's on them. All of my research and everything I read online said if I wanted to run 33x12.50 tires I would need a Level/Lift kit or Wheel Spacers. I knew the 20x9 part was fine and so was the 33" tire but the 12.50 width had me worried as my truck is stock height with no lift or level kit and I don't want to run spacers.

Well I met both people last night not knowing if they would fit or rub or hit anything and basically was just going to chance it and hope they fit and I threw the first one on and thank god... they fit and they even had room for more tire lol... wasn't even close to rubbing anywhere in the wheel well.

[emoji830]Wheels: Fuel Octane • 20x9 -12 • Black
[emoji830]Tires: Federal Couragia • 33x12.50

Here is some pictures:

(Keep in mind the Fuel center caps wernt on yet in these pics but I do have them and they are going on later today.)

So for everyone out there with 4th Gen 2wd Regular Cabs with the short bed... you can fit 20x9 33x12.50 setup without any modifications to your trucks height or suspension. No trimming or cutting or anything.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that setup will fit on every truck like yours. Every truck is different and what fits on your truck, may rub on another truck. Grats on the new wheels/tires.

aren't stock tires 33"? I had to do a 2" leveling kit when I put on 35"x12x20 on my Ram Sport due to rubbing.

So are you transitioning your street truck into more of an off road look?
Yes... my 6" Rough Country lift should be here this upcoming week. I have a few more goodies coming aswell [emoji16]
Nice truck
Thanks man!

I'm not sure what size the stock tires are but I wasn't worried about the 33 part I was more worried about the 12.50 width hitting suspension components.

Yes I know. These Federal Couragia tires are sold as 33x12.50 but are actually 32.8x12.3 to be exact.

That I do not know. The rims are not stamped inside with the offset OR a part number so i can't even look it up.

But here is the Fuel site, for the Octane wheels: http://www.fueloffroad.com/octane-d509-w-6028.htm

Under the 20x9 section there is only 2 wheels made with the Ram 5x5.5 lug pattern and one has a +20 offset and the other one has a +1 offset. Now I can almost guarantee that my wheels are not the +20 as they stick out about 1" past the fender so if I had to guess they are the set with the +1 offset. There is no other offset option when ordering the 20x9 5x5.5 Octanes besides +20 and +1.

Everything you read is wrong. I could have told you that those tires on 20x9 with -12mm offset would have fit lol

What I’m saying is that is pretty common knowledge so I don’t know what you were reading.

They offset is not -12. The seller told me they were -12 and when I looked up the wheels, Fuel does not offer a -12 offset in the Octane with the 5x5.5 bolt pattern of my truck. They only made 2 offsets with the 20x9 Octanes. +20 and +1.

All I know is when I searched Google and these forums, every thread I came across everyone said in order to run 20" rims with 12.50 wide tires you would need spacers or a very negative offset. I also saw people asking if 20x10 35x12.50 would fit stock rams and most replies said 33 wasthe highest you could go with stock suspension and 12.50 needed spacers or it would hit and run suspension parts.

I dunno... I searched for a few hours and never saw one single post saying someone fit 33x12.50x20 tires on their stock truck.

I made that post after i bought the wheels. I was going off what the seller told me. He said they were -12 offset. Curious of the exact specs on these wheels I went to the Fuel site and found out that with the Octane in size 20x9 with the 5x5.5 bolt pattern they only offered 2 offsets. +20 and +1.

Looking at the wheels on my truck im going to go with the +1 offset because if these were the +20 offset I really doubt they would stick out as far as they do.

I’ve always like the octanes. How old did the guy say they were? I’m pretty sure that they did make 20x9 with -12 offset years ago and must have stopped.

just checked....Fuel definitely did used to make the Ocatane in -12 mm offset and by looking at the pictures I think these wheels are -12mm

easy way to tell is to physically measure the backspacing. -12mm would be 4.5" and the +1mm would be a tad bit more than 5"

once you put that 6 inch lift on it you're going to wish you had bought 35's...

they very well could be +20, my neighbor has a 2017 3/4 ton 4x4 with 20x9 fuels with the +20 offset and his stick out like yours do, also i have the same exact rim he does but with +1 offset and have just over an inch of poke on my 08 3/4 ton, so its very possible to have either of those offsets, the bad part is that the numbers on the wheels to find out what you have is actually on the inside of the rim (inside the tire)

It’s different for a heavy duty. Offsets are much different

how so? according to the specs on rambodybuilder .com the trucks are the same width, wheels are the same spacing apart in SRW HD rams as they are on 1500s, and +1mm offset will be the same offset on each 20x9 wheel wont it?

completely different suspension, different hubs. a +20 mm offset 20x9 would never stick out from the fenders on a 1500. the stock 20x9s have a +19.05 mm offset.
