I've had my '87 F150, 4x4, 300-6, 4spd granny gear, for 30 years now. I used it last week to bring home over 2000 lbs of treated lumber for my deck.
Couldn't tell it was back there. Pulls like a champ.
Outside of regular maintenance like oil changes, brake pad replacements, and a few normal wear items, which have been very few, I've spent less than a couple of truck payments on repairs in those 30 years.
Those repairs were things that wear out like fuel pump, mainly because the fuel gauge wouldn't work, brake booster, clutch master and s-ave cylinder. Other than that two sets of spark plugs, two rotors and caps, one set of plug wires, one heater core and radiator.
That's it on a 36 year old truck.
