Ok so i went to leave from my mom's house when i went to back up i felt i had no powersteering. So i pull foward and pop the hood think i was low on ps fluid. Then i noticed none of my pulleys where spinnig. Shut the truck off and started looking for problems. I was able to pull the tensioner back with my hand relatively easy and get the belt off. Should i be able to do that. I started spinning all the pulley and everything but the very bottom pulley will spin. Not sure if it is supposed to spin with the truck off. Any ideas on where i should start or what the problem is. My truck is at my moms for at least the night. I dont want to have it towed if it is a simple fix. I didnt get to involved in checking things out cause it started raining.

And your harmonic balancer, the large pulley attached to your crank will move when the truck is running.

Thats the very bottom pulley right. Idk if it moves when it on i didnt check. Will it move with the truck off. Hopefully its just the tensioner that is bad.

Only if you get a big ass wrench with a breaker bar...it's the large pully on the bottom front of the block, it bolts to your crank...you move it and youre basically turning the whole engine over. But yeah, if you could move the tensioner with your hand, it's toast.

Thats normally how it happens...I've had them break going down the road and the damn belt gets wrapped up in everything.

#4 turns when the engine is on but not when it's off unless you put a bar on it and move it. That one is not your problem.

#5, & #9 are idlers. #6 provides the tension to insure the belt turns with the pulleys and I suspect that one is broke. Make sure the idler end of that tension assembly still pushes against the belt.

Is the tension pulley super easy ti move or does it take a little force to budge. Mine moves by hand, in fact all the cars I have ever worked on the tensioner pulley moved by hand but it took some pressure to do so.

You're lucky that it broke at rest, I had one go out on the road once and it tore up all kinds of stuff. Had to replace a fan, radiator shroud, coolant hoses as well as the tensioner and belt, and repair some other stuff as well.

Is the hose attached to your axle? If so its supposed to be that way.

im not sure where it goes but its not supposed to be that way. the barb fitting is sticking thru the side of the hose and is broken. if it does go to my front diff im a little scared of whats gonna be in there after doing this.

Thats odd. I know I have a hose on my rear axle that is capped off and just kinda sits there, and I know the 4wd jeep I worked on had one on the front and rear, but if it doesn't look like the cap is supposed to be there then I'm not sure.
