I've had 4 different exhaust systems on my 15 ram. I started out with the magnaflow 14" lived it and was mellow but I wanted louder, so I had a strait pipe made and sounded good but lost low end power, didn't drone bad either, so I put on a super 10 flow, sounded amazing but droned and I lost even more low end grunt than the straight pipe and I have 3.92s as well, so put my magnaflow back on and fell in love, but since then I've added my bilsteins with 35s and u thought I had 4.56 gears in my truck going back to the magnaflow, now I can only imagine when I put longtubes on it next. Flows do nothing but sound good, killed my power!!

I loved my 14" on the 5.7 and plan on doing the same thing with long tubes on the 6.4.

Crapmaster usually is about the same as running a cherry bomb. Sounds ok if you're a redneck but they murder power.

You put the smallest muffler on there that they make. That might have something to do with it. I.have the 50hd and no loss of power or drone. And it sounds good.

Only problem now is I had a perfect bolted in magnaflow now that I've hacked my exhaust all up had to have it welded back in and irritates me that it's all welded up and prolly don't flow as smooth, but that's just me being picky

Magnaflow are great, the only exhaust i'd consider other than them are the Corsa's! (see signature for both systems lol)

Flowmaster

Only reason you may have lost power is you put one of the smallest mufflers on your rig. If you would have used a super 40 or 44 designed for your truck there is no way you would have lost power.

This is true, and looks like the negative comments are from people that never had the 50hd for sure. Mine didn't loose any power and won't.rust out it's stainless .

I've run flowmaster on quite a few things, and really like the sound they make. But I've had a few that got the dreaded drone, and man did that suck. But there are alot of variables in an exhaust system that may or may not cause drone.

As far as power though, I've seen multiple dyno shootouts and flowmaster consistently finish near or at the bottom. (This argument comes up on some classic car forums I'm on quite regularly). And these were independent tests not one manufacturer trying to advertise over another. That said, it wasnt a massive difference in my opinion, unless it's going on a race car where every last pony counts.

Bottom line IMHO is if you're going for every last shred of power go elsewhere. If your going for sound and you like the flowmaster tone, go for it. On a primarily street driven vehicle I don't think you're leaving much on the table.

Fwiw, I won't be putting one on my Ram but that's just because personally I'm over noisy trucks. Been there, done that, now I love the sound of silence when I so choose.

I do run magnaflows on my GS, but the jury is still out on whether I like the sound or not.

No, I don't think i made your point at all. I wasn't saying one way or the other about never using a flowmaster again (as was posted by the OP) or trying to be negative towards the brand as a whole, I was speaking on my experience with flowmaster in general as were many posts here. Especially since the thread topic nor the op says anything about the 50hd specifically. You're apparently a flowmaster fanboy, and that's fine. Ive got nothing against them and really like the way they sound. Nope, haven't tried a 50hd on my hemi, nope, probably won't ever. Don't think the OP ever asked "want input on a 50hd" anymore than "want input on proper fertilizer".

Besides, your "point" was about people making negative comments. Sorry you got butthurt, but I didn't make a negative comment. Just personal experience/observation and dyno proven results that have been floated out there for some time now. Please don't be one of those guys that gets your thing in a twist because someone doesn't go gaga over something you like. Different strokes for different folks and such. I think the more people chime in, the more input on a topic, the more we benefit.

I do suggest if you really want to silence the critics, either find some existing results, or much better yet, go and personally visit a dyno with your truck and a 50hd vs a stock muffler. Thatll shut up the doubters real quick! And that's not me giving you grief or calling B's or anything, I just love seeing good hard data as it benefits everybody. Besides, let's be honest here, the vast majority of mufflers on the market today made specifically for these trucks are probably going to pick up 2% power at most and all be within that range, and I'd be willing to wager on a otherwise stock power train truck, its likely even less than that. Sure, a super 10 is a horrible choice for a DD-type truck IMHO, but apples to apples there's not going to be a huge difference. Sorry, but nobody picks up 25 HP with a muffler swap alone. So pick the sound you like and go with it I say. If you had a bad experience with one, try another. Variety!! Life's too short to be too close minded.
