Just bought me a 2016 1500 5.7. Still learning my way around it. I stumbled across information on the dash: 4,459 drive hours, 321 Idle hours, Mileage is 145,600 .. are these good numbers, sorry if its a dumb question but I went from driving a 96 Suburban to this thing so I am basically lost, LOL. Thanks.

7% idle time seems reasonable. Plus the 4459 may be low. The run time counter has a habit of randomly resetting to 0

Numbers really don't mean a lot. What really matters is if you had a mechanic do a complete check in the truck.

The mileage is high for a 9 year old truck, about 16k a year. The mileage divided by the hours shown returns about 32 miles run per hour. The truck, if driven mostly to work each day, would have around 63 miles a day driven. What I am getting at is this might be a daily driver rather than a long-distance truck so it gets more wear and tear. But, again, the story is best told by a mechanic.

Best advice I have is keep up with maintenance and just enjoy the drive.

Seems like a reasonable amount of idle versus run miles. The main factor is the maintenance history though, especially oil changes. Do you have any records of that?

Yeah, somewhat high miles for the year but not terrible. IIRC, my average speed is in the ballpark of yours and over the truck's life it's been a real mix of city and highway with a few road trips of a couple thousand miles or more.

Seems there was a discussion about this a while back but I can't recall the outcome - do idle hours count when sitting at a light or only in park and running?

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I have next to nothing for maintenance records (owner passed away). I did get to speak to a family member of the owner and she did say that her father drove the truck all around new england, N.H. to R.i. and CT. a lot with his job so I guess lots of highway miles, so I guess that is a good sign.
