Ive had Chevy and Ford's. Really they're all great trucks. As far as im convinced there has never been a better time to own a Ram. I absolutely love mine after 6 months, 8 speed is world class. Welcome to the Ramily!

I owned a 2015 GMC Sierra with the 6.2L and new GM 8-Speed between December 2014 and March 2015. The truck had many issues, including the need for a replacement 8-speed trans due to "excessive clutch pack clearance" which made the trans clunk and bang between gears. After having it to the dealer 5 times in 4 month, I decided to dump it and get a Ram. The Hemi and ZF 8HP70 are WORLDS better than the GM design. Since switching to my Ram, I have heard that GM has "fixed" the issue with the early production 8-speeds, but would take that with a grain of salt. As a bright spot, I did take the truck on a 2300 mile road trip before trading it. Averaged 21.5 MPG's with mixed driving of highway, traffic/idling, and back-roads. My Sierra had a 3.23 rear. The fuel economy was the only impressive thing about that truck.

That's sad to hear, I wonder if the stingrays were having the same problem. I'm still gonna get a ram, orange sport to be exact

Thing about the GM's is the 6.2/8 speed is a premium combo. Can't get the 8 speed with the 5.3 YET............ so you gotta pony up for the highest end vehicles which is great if you can afford it. LOVE that Ram makes a killer drivetrain combo available to everyone and you can find one almost anywhere.

And the gears available suck!!!!! 3.23 is the lowest currently available with 6.2/8 speed. Would be a BEAST WITH 3.73's or better.

Neighbor just got a loaded Denali and it's nice but could be better with a little more gearing. He does get 21-22 mpg on the highway

Orange Sport sounds like a great combo. Love my Black Sport! From what I found out, the tuning and internals on the trucks vs. the stingray were/are different. The issues that I had were only subject to the first 4-5 months of production. Anything after February 2015 is supposed to be "fixed" per GM. But like I said before, the trans issue was just one of many problems I had with that truck. Other problems included a unsolvable vibration at highway speeds (wheels, tires, driveshaft, and rear all replaced with no help) and electrical issues (Radio replaced twice).

I agree, Ram really has the **** together here. Love that you can get a Hemi/8-speed in essentially a "base" truck, where with GM you have to spend $50K+ to get the 6.2L/8-speed combo. Most of them come with the 3.23 rear standard, but they just started producing the trucks with the "max-tow" package, which comes with a 3.42. Still not a very low gear, but the gearing in the transmission (like the Ram), make up for the performance difference. Still no 3.92 though...........

Rams have a 3.92 option available. Yeah I was worried about doing any performance to the 8 speed. But after some research and realizing where these transmissions came from I'm sure they will hold power. I think they are rated to 550 lb tq
