Looking at intakes. I like the K&N brand. I'm not wanting to break the bank on an intake or anything but I dont want junk. Where is someplace to look to find a decent intake for cheaper price. Ebay seems to be good on somethings however I've seen ebay just as expensive in some cases. 5.7 hemi. dont want an intake that goes into the fender well, just one that sits in the stock location

I went with the S&B on my 14 Ram, I think it's a pretty good intake.
If your looking not to spend much how about just doing a drop in filter, good quality, in the factory air box?
Most of these new vehicles come with a pretty good flowing intake from the factory.
Just a option for you.

I am using an AEM drop in filter right now until I decide whether to go S&B or Varam.

Just put in a K&N drop in filter for about $50, you won't be able to tell the difference between it and a $300 filter system, most aftermarket kits aren't really CAI and they make more noise so you think it's doing something.

Yea thought of that too just a drop in. My thoughts are this, i am wanting to install an airhorn. The horn is a grover 1510. Firetruck horn. Its 24 inches long. Would mount really well if the stock airbox was out of the way. I do like the drop in filter tho. The air box really if you look at the design isnt terrible on air flow.

If that's what you want go with the vararam. It opens up that whole half of the engine compartment

Read up on the link post below. There's another MUCH longer thread on this subject that I followed on the "other" Ram forum. see the link on the bottom. You will need to add a "z" after "ramforum" in the blank space in order for the link to work correctly.

The stock filter will flow 325g/s, which will handle a VE of 100% @5500rpms. with that being said, when it comes to filters, bigger is BETTER. Less restriction.

What is this oem airbox mod? is it in the how to section?

I don't think most people need that air box mod. I don't know what that original photo is on that listing but my 2014 has no where as much stuff in front of the air pickup.
So basically unless you are building some fire breathing monster don't worry about it, OEM is good with a good filter.
