Before we talk numbers I know it’s not really going to do anything. That’s why I’m curious if anyone has gotten any of the other cold air intakes available for the 6 other than K&N. If it doesn’t add power but just helps with sound. Then wouldn’t it be more viable to get a cheaper intake? And if you wanted a K&N couldn’t you get the cheaper kit and a replacement filter from them?

K&N does change the sound but I wasn't a fan personally. I now use part of the K&N (just the tube) with the stock air box (the K&N was too "bleaty" IMO). I think you'd be just as happy with a cheaper one. The fitment of the K&N was not that great with large air gaps.

Here's a video of the full K&N before I modified it.

I just put my driver window down and yell "VROOOM VROOOOOOOM" as I drive by people.. It impresses the hell out of most, and the ones that aren't impressed, well, I drive by them again and yell it even louder. That usually brings them around.

I'm reminded of this...

After installing spin-on oil filter adapter, it's now necessary to remove resonator to change oil filter. PITA, plus I would like to use a larger filter, which interferes with stock reso. So, I would like to replace stock reso with aftermarket tube direct to stock air box. I believe that is what you have done, Mr. Bend? Can you provide a picture of that, or a P/N for adapter needed from K&N? I would greatly appreciate it

I purchased a used Specter off of Ebay and love it. In the beginning, it was a bit loud for me...so I insulated the box and that made a big difference. I now get a low grumble, but not too loud. So for around $100, I'm good with it. I would have preferred a plastic tube vs the metal one it came with (as I believe plastic cools faster then metal in this case) but I insulated it as well. So I am happy.

I ordered this:

BUT have since modified it to only be using the intake tube with the stock airbox:

Personally If I could do it over again I would have gone with the Spectre like @SJGUSMC21 used. There is nothing special about the build quality of the K&N that justifies the price and from the pictures I think the Spectre looks like a better quality airbox. I had a Spectre on my prior truck which was a 99 Ram Sport 5.2L and had no complaints.

I really tossed this around for a long time. The plastic oem part that covers the top of the engine, became damaged from a oil change place I took it to (didn't notice for a while and just one of these times I had absolutely no time to change my oil myself). So after I removed it, I kept debating it. Then I saw this used Spectre on Ebay and went for it. No regrets...and I certainly have spent $100 of more worthless items then this one.

But, as I said, if it hadn't been damaged, I probably wouldn't have done this. Never did like the plastic OEM 'hood' over the top of my engine though.

My first resonator cracked too but they replaced it under warranty. It wasn't so much a crack as it kinda looked like the plastic mold just failed it had a very fine feathered edge along the break, more like a manufacturing defect.
