I have a 96 5.2 with 138000 miles in it and it has a plenum leak. Should I just replace the factory intake Manifold with an aftermarket one? I was looking at the Edelbrock Performer RPM Air gap intake, Will that be okay? Do I need to swap out the Carburetor if I change the Manifold? And is there anything else I should do while I have the intake off and replacing it.

P.S. If I put the Edelbrock intake on and possibly a carburetor, do I need to change anything with the fuel or air or will she be ready to go? Thank You

The air gap is okay with other supporting mods, but without them, I don't think it's worth the money. As for the carb, I don't know how you'd do that on the Mangum engine as it's a MPI engine, not TBI.

My advise is to just get the Hughes kit...save yourself a lot of headaches and $$$.

Yea, WOW, quess I just showed my level of expertise.

I am perfectly fine with turning a wrench and what not. I did notice on other forums, people are saying it is not that good to put a M1 or Hughes on a stock motor because you will loose your bottom end. They said about just getting the APS Plenum Kit or the Hughes Plenum Kit. Any thoughts? Mine is bone stock.

I just want to fix the Plenum leak and clean it up and not have to worry about it happening again. I have no problem with doing either.

Hughes kit is great! I used it on my 5.9 and got the new intake bolts. Whole thing was like $150 to my door and took all of a day and a half to put in. Never had an issue again!

Yup and now Hughes even includes a new thermostat, thermostat gasket, bypass hose and new intake bolts and still kept the price at $119.95
