20% off sticker has been the going rate for the last number of years. Honestly, now that the 2019 re-design is coming out, i would push for more than 20% off. Some guys are saying 25% + off sticker at this point.

Just to be clear, when i say X% off.....thats including all rebates and dealer discounts. I was able to get exactly 19% off my $52k stickered 2015 when i bought it new. At the time there were $5500 in rebates and the dealer was taking another $3k off......( $43.5k )....but I wasnt happy till i got to the $42K or so, so i played the waiting game. Eventually got the dealer ( it took a lot of work and me waiting till the second to last day of the month ) to finally get them agree on a final sale price of $42K. Then we played the trade in game.......and i was able to ger $1000 over trade in value. So if I move that extra $1000 to the discont of the truck, i got about 22% off sticker and full blue book trade on my silverado. you got to know your numbers and just hang tough if you can.

Some will do better, some will do worse. Just play the game and dont give in until you are happy.....

thats not true.

I may have not written clear enough but its true enough in my limited experience.

Three times over the past four years when we were shopping, the local dealer came back and said they found something at another dealer that we may be interested in. We told the local dealer that we also noticed the truck and we were thinking about driving out to see it. He wanted to make sure we hadn't actually talked to the distant dealer as it would make it more difficult to make a trade, implying they couldn't do it if we had. I'm guessing they probably could have, but were not willing at the numbers we were talking.

Anyway, no big deal, just a tidbit.

That makes more sense to me, and this is what I just got last month ~20% off MSRP. The other person in this thread was saying 20% then rebates.

I've had precisely the same experience. My local dealer flat out told me that if I had talked to another dealer about the vehicle I wanted then the other dealer would never do a trade. I think it has more to do with the fact that if I'm talking to the "other" dealer, then that dealer is hoping to make the sale. Why would they trade with another dealer when they have an interested customer?

20% off MSRP on a 2018 is real. I had a 2018 express sticker-ed at 46XXX down to 37XXX roughly 9K

Agreed, yes, but not 20% then rebates:

When I went to buy my I wanted the maroon red. Local dealer had none on the lot. I asked them about the sister dealership and they said they had none even though when I called them they had 2 on their lot. However, I guess because they had so may 17’s they did not want to move vehicles and would charge me $250. I was so pissed. I walked off the lot and went to another dealer about an hour away. Totally different experience. Sticker price was 51k, and I ended up paying 39 with the lifetime warranty. Every dealer is different.

How far are you willing to drive to get a good deal? Recently bought my wife a 2018 Cherokee from Massachusetts. Got 27% off sticker price. Had to drive 5 hours "to get it". I say "to get it" because they failed to inform me about the process of buying vehicles in Mass if you are from out of state. My truck was bought from a NH dealer and the experience was super easy and I got 25% off sticker with free delivery to my house. 2016 model bought in July of '16.

I did pretty well on a new 2017 1500 Tradesman 4x4 / 8sp / hemi a week or so back. Dealer wanted 50k for it, 44k MSRP + 6k for the 6" Pro comp lift/wheels & tires. I traded my 09 Laramie 2wd w/ 140k on the odometer + 25K (out the door) for it. Lifetime Dodge power-train warranty & OEM remote start install were included in the deal. Took a week of playing hard to get & passing on 2 prior offers but happy w/ the deal I got.

you guys are all getting played when they ask you "if you talked to other dealer yet"

of course i did, and here is the price i want to pay that we settled on

make it happen, or im buying the truck at the other dealer

i got my dealer to do the lot trade 120 miles away and 6 oil changes, again you guys pull up your pants and ask them to do this for you, or just walk out and buy it from the other guy.

That was easily 4 hours of their time with 2 employees and 2 vehicles + gas to go and retrieve it for me.

Also here in northern cali we have ecod for 36% off msrp on leftover 17 laramies

Sounds like you paid a lot more for the truck than you had to for the convenience. 36% off msrp on leftover V6 2017s is not that good a deal, no one wants them. You can do much better than that sleep walking :) .

Dealers here routinely give you 5 or 6 oil changes plus a loaner car.

Honestly I haven't seen any really bad deals on new Rams online. The kicker for me is seeing the price advertised online, example: $38,572 after all incentives and then when you get to the dealership there's an additional $1995 tacked on to every vehicle on the lot for running boards, paint protection, a dealer powertrain warranty, etc that they didn't tell you about in the online add. Also don't forget about the $499 DOC fee that's only mentioned in the fine print. Thats why I always call them first and ask if the internet price is the real OTD price or is there a bunch of other horse**** tacked on that their not telling me about.

Yeah, I've seen it too on the forums. I think part of why I personally am not seeing this in my area quite so much is that the dealers are all smaller. I'm sure this summer the deals on '18s will only get better.

Guess I am the other guy. i live near the Sussex county NY state border. Puts me with on 35 mins of 5 dealers. More competition = better price.

put your $ where your mouth is and show me a v6 "gas laramie" getting these discounts, btw i was talking about the v6 diesel not gas, fca charges like $4300 add on vs like $1500 for v8 hemi

also some dealers give you extended 200k factory warranty, whats your point?

This is a great thread. My experience started this morning.

I contact management first by email to start the process. If they are unwilling to communicate initially via email they are not getting my business. Talking to salespeople when they have no power in the price negotiation, complete waste of time. You agree to play their game when you walk in and your first contact is sales person.

First response discount offers from management response to my email has yielded offers off MSRP of 23 to 25% on Laramie Hemi models, Some dealers don't respond.. their loss / ignorance. I waited to end of month to start negotiations feel I can get a deeper discount if finalize Monday APR 3. If I don't get the deal I want there is always next month.

NOTES: In the past I did have one dealer / sale manager renege on deal after agreed to online. I made a big show out front, got GM to come out and talk to me, made sure enough people witnessed when I give him a bottle of KY Lubricant as I informed him it was to to help with clients. They did offer to honor the deal but I was done.

Car Salespersons all live by the motto "Buyer are Liars" and that is how they approach you
in an adverse manner. That is why the process is never smooth.... a big game to the dealer staff.

My local dealers have Laramie listed for 34-37k, the 37k being around 51k msrp. The big horns and laramies have the biggest rebates. You can probably step up to a big horn from the express for not much money and get much nicer features

True that. I could’ve got the power wagon but decided against it because all they had on the lot was the 5.7 bed and wanted the 6.4 bed

I know this thread is about new vehicles but I wanted to point out the BS that a new car dealer try to pull on me. I recently was looking at a used 2015 Ram. It was advertised as a internet special. The price was below most others online . I drove over to the dealer and test drove the truck and tried to buy the truck at the quoted price. They came out with a list of add ons like dealers fees and even adding the cost of tires they recently put on the truck. It brought the price up by over $2,000 dollars. I told them this is crazy and walked out. I bought a similar truck the next day at another dealer. They had the nerve to call me a few days later about working out a better deal. I told them I already got another truck and hung up.
