just wondering if anyone knows if the hemi is a zero clearance motor, meaning if it drops a valve, will it hit the piston? i thought it would, but i'm not sure... anyone know??

I think what you are thinking about is the problem that shows up on typically rice burners when they break a cam belt. And the question is will the valve while in the open position hit the piston top as the engine rotates. All engines will suffer a piston strike if a valve is actually dropped.

Yes if you break a keeper and drop a valve its gonna smack the piston unless you get really lucky and it gets stuck in the up position.

Yes if the valve gets stuck open the piston will say hi and kiss it. I've seen this happen when Hemi's over rev and get valve float, they will make contact.

Of course the times I saw it were with aftermarket cams, with a stock cam I'm not sure but probably.
