Ive posted this on an RV forum and am getting tons of different answers. Figured I would check with the guys that have the same truck for the answers.
I have a 2014 1500 Express Quad cab 4x2 with the 5.7L and 3.21 rear end.
Im looking to get a Jayco travel trailer, length is 33', trailer weight is 6065. Is my truck sufficient for that trailer or should I look for something lighter and/or shorter? Most traveling would be over flat land. Very rare would I be going thru the mountains. There would only be myself and one other person in the truck, the truck would NOT be loaded down with a bunch of crap. The trailer would not be heavily loaded with stuff either. The fresh water tank would not be filled, but the gray/black tanks could possibly but not likely be full.

Thanks for any input.

I had an '09 4.7L 1500 that I pulled a 30' Travel Trailer with and it pulled ok...I know the 5.7 can pull it without a problem because I have a 5.7 in my current truck and it doesn't have an issue. The issue to me was with the wind or passing big rigs. The last time I pulled it with the 1500, a big rig passed me and about shat my pants. When I got to my destination I was a wreck...stressed out to the max and that was only a little over an hour drive. I didn't feel safe. I had only been hauling Travel Trailers for 1.5 years by then so you may have more time under your belt towing your TT.

My trailer was about 6000# loaded and me and the wife in the truck. Gas mileage sucked but that's to be expected pulling a gigantic brick behind your truck. It was time for an upgrade any way and got '12 Hemi 5.7 2500 and i don't even know it's back there.

2 questions. 1 what transmission? 2 what's the hitch weight?

As long as you have trailer brakes the weight shouldn't be a issue where it's going to get hairy is the length of the wind gets going it's going to want to push you around personally I would try to stick to under 30. 26-28 seems to be a good size, there are guys on here that pull 35ft trailers with there half ton and do fine when the wind picks up they just slow down and cruise at 50-55. There is nothing that says you can only pull up to a certain length but you need to find your own limit and mines 26-28ft.

Just so you know your going to find mixed views here techiniclly 6050lbs is in your towing capacity (as long as you have the 8 speed) and if you less than your payload witch should be around 1500. So take you your passenger and the hitch weight and if it's under 1500(there is a sticker on your door that tells you your exact payload) you are legally allowed to pull it.

If the trailer is 6k lbs., you should be alright, gear ratio, suspension, tires are important on a half tonner, and the weight dist. hitch too, I use an Equi-l-zer brand, cost a little more, but, not much sway...

BTW, I tow a 30' Outback with an 02 QC 1500 with a 4.7 4x4 ...does a good job, but I'm on flatland...

Yer gonna wiggle over 60. You'll be (most likely) under weight. Yer gonna sag w/o some suspension assist. It's a safe albeit big rig and the only way to know how it handles is go tug it around.

You will be good. I have a 30 footer. It pulls just fine. I have the same truck as you. 8 speed transmission.
