So my dad and I hooked up the trailer today to test lights and everything to get everything ready for deer season. Got it mostly hooked up, but the lights on the trailer didn't come on. No brake lights, no turn signal, no nothing. Hooked it up to my dad's truck to see if it was the trailer even though it had been used recently and the trailer lights worked then. Tried hooking mine up again after seeing if the light connection on my truck was hooked up and still nothing. I shouldn't have to do anything special to make the lights work should I? That would be preposterous. I had the place that put my hitch in check the hookup and they said it was good. I'm sure they didn't actually hook a trailer up to it but probably a volt meter or something. I need to go get my brake controller flashed anyway so I guess I could have the dealership check it out. I didn't buy my truck to do nothing with it.

Anyone have any ideas?

It's still under warranty so have them check it. If just one wasn't working I would say a fuse might be blown. But for everything not to work like that it is weird.

Get them to check the clips where they spliced the wiring harness in to your existing electric. Probably behind one of your tail lights. I had the same problem with a crackerjack tow shop that installed a hitch on one of my suv's.

I believe all of the rams come with the trailer light connectors whether they come with hitches or not.

Strange these truck come with the proper wiring for trailer lights. There isn't anything special to do, should be plug and go. With out being there it's hard to say what to do, I would start with checking all the fuses then I would move to a multimeter at the plug on the truck then I would move to the trailer. Maybe a bad connector on the trailer but still makes contact on your dads truck. If you have no power at the back of your truck take it to the dealer. If there is power it has to be something with the trailer connector sense the lights work hooked to your dads truck.

Use a test light and check it. Make sure you have a good ground. Sometimes the trailers are getting there ground from the ball.
