I could not have done this without the information found on this forum. The right up with the detailed instruction is perfect. The wiring harnesses from M2 Mods are top notch! Even got it a little earlier than expected. Here is a quick note on my setup and parts used and the total cost (including taxes):
2013 Ram 1500 CC Express with 4 spd HVAC and the UConnect 5.0.
1- Uconnect 8.4 VP4 NA Part# 62238619AG (from a 2015 Grand Cherokee - eBay @ $328.23)
2 - Single Zone Bezel Part# 1UJ96DX9AJ (eBay @ $90.95)
3 - HVAC control module Part# 68105017AE (eBay @ $72.52)
4 - 7 spd blower resistor Part# 87165-13010 (Search Amazon for this part#, $27.81 with Prime)
5 - Base to 8.4 Radio Conversion Harness (4 speed Fan specific) - M2 Mods - $145
6 - Fan Motor Power/Resistor Harness - M2 Mods - $55
7 - 911 Error Fix/Cell Bypass Plug - M2 Mods $35
My grand total, including tax, was $757.51.
A couple of observations:
-Call a dealer for the security code. They were more than happy to get it for me free of charge. Just make sure you have the complete VIN of the donor vehicle and the model of the radio.
- After completing the install the GPS was showing my vehicle off by a couple of streets during navigation. I pulled into a parking lot and drove in a counterclockwise circle twice and it was fixed. Works perfectly now.
- Google "SXM 3 month free subscription". You'll find a link where you can input the radio ID and potentially get free service without a credit card. It worked for my radio.
- Within in an hour of using the radio, I got a notice that a software update was available and it automatically downloaded and installed the update.
Deals are out there on the 8.4 but you have to look. I put several on my watchlist in eBay and occasionally I would get notifications that the price had dropped. I watched mine at a price of $498 Buy it Now and one day I got notification that the price had dropped to $306. (for a VP4) No brainer! Also - check the classified ads for Jeep Cherokee forums. I missed out on a couple of good deals.
