Excellent! Looks like you have taken great care of your truck. I hope my 2016 makes it that far as well. May I ask what type of oil you used and OCI's for the past 12+ years?

Impressive is that much mileage with a 4.7......looks the 2008 update may have remediated some of it's predecessor's issues.

Looks great! One of the bonuses of living in CA? You see very few intact 2008s in my area.

Like those full length running boards.

Thanks all...

400k by end of summer I’m guessing...no more v8 6spd trucks out there so will drive this thing until I flip or or it catches fire. Plus...lifetime powertrain warranty

I wouldn’t say it’s had great care, but it has been relatively well maintained. Truck has otherwise had the **** beat out of it since April ‘08. Oil changes every 6k+ miles with any name brand synthetic (M1 syntec maxlife pennzoil ultra etc) in various weights. Often mixed brands to use up spare quarts from other cars.

What issues did the earlier 4.7’s have? Other than less power? I think part of the reason it’s lasted so long is my constant “Italian tuneup” driving style. Still on original pcv valve

Only rust on this thing is where Ive chipped the paint in the bed. I can’t decide if I still like the running boards. They’re factory mopar pieces I installed back in ‘08, and though incredibly functional, they look a little gomer Pyle-ish

Since you’ve gotten quite a long life out of that truck, what all has needed replacing in all the years you’ve driven it?

Very cool! Congrats.

Manual transmission or automatic?
If its auto, is it the original?

Ok let’s see...

New engine at 300k (LPT warranty) - engine still ran fine at the time but had some ticking up top and started burning a little oil. Cam lobes showed some wear and valve springs were squished, in that they wouldn’t expand all the way. Bottom end looked great with visible crosshatching, but dealer decided to replace whole engine instead of doing top end due to miles.

New rear end at 275k (warranty) - spider gears exploded around an angry left turn

a few clutches

a few water pumps (warranty)

a few front CV axles due to cracked Cv boots (warranty)

One alternator

one ac compressor

one TIPM (rebuild from summit)

A set of coils & plug wires

One rear axle bearing (warranty)

A 4wd shift motor (warranty)

Radiator & motor/trans mounts (preventative when they replaced engine)

A fuel pump (gonna need another new one soon - bad level sender)

All front suspension bits at 360k, only replaced bc found a cracked spindle so replaced everything while apart.

Other than that, most everything else is original (g238 trans, t case, front diff, ps pump, etc)

As for upgrades...

Core/Hurst short shifter
Aspen steering wheel (the one w/fake wood)
front BilsteinHD struts
McG rear drop shackles
Fox 2.0 rear shocks
Hellwig rear swaybar
Truetrac posi
Ssbc 4 piston front brakes
Centerline forged wheels w/305-50-20 grabber atx
CC driver seat from an Infiniti (soon to be switched out to a Recaro)

Without a doubt...I’m guessing to the tune of about $15k so far with dealer prices/labor rates

Congrats - I'm only at 145K in my '06 5.7L, fixed every panel on it from rust, new bed sides, fixed my doors, been oil undercoated for the last 6 years I've owned it

300,000 miles on the original and 75,000 on this one she should be good to go for awhile with your duty cycle & maintenance. Truck looks good for it’s mileage & age also. Testament to how you take care of your stuff. Keep it up.

Friend just turned 400,000 on his red 2015. My blue 2014 has 739,000. Failed emissions part leaking EGR cooler caused low coolant that I didn’t resolve quick enough and she pushed a head gasket at 371k. The new motor now has 368k. Ecodiesel’s but all testaments to the overall build quality of the Ram 1500.
