Just looking for affirmation...(wheels/tries)

So I want to keep the basic stock wheel and tire dimensions, maybe slightly more aggressive but with more tire and less wheel.

It came with the 20x9 and 275/60/20's

I'm going with a 17x9 5.71" back space and a +18 offset.
Tire will be a 295/70-17.

Thoughts?

Also the tire weighs 63 and the wheel is 28, so 91 pounds.
I've read several different weights for the OE combo anywhere from 75-86 pounds?

I was hoping to be closer on weight but oh well. How do you think ride will compare to stock?

Anyway I'm obviously new to the truck world. Thanks for your input.

That's almost the same as stock.
Should be fine.


and I think the stock 20s and tires weigh about 80 pounds.
That weight of that tire seems extremely high.

That might be accurate , I run 305/45/22 not a lot of rubber and they weigh 50.2. The website quoted them at 51.7. As for your tires, the height is only ~1/4 " difference (bigger) and almost an inch wider. I think you should be good with that. For the record my nitto terra grapplers 325/60/20 weighed in at 78lbs.

It's funny with the Evo or the Vette I'd be thrilled to loose a pound or even a 1/2 a pound off a wheel/tire.
Here I'm talking about adding 10-15 and it's not that big a deal...

depending on the tire and how aggressive the sidewall is you may get some minor rubbing. its going to ride a bit firmer because of the stiffer sidewalls. not a bad ride, most actually prefer it. stock tires ride like pillows. youll notice the difference in weight when you first put them on, after that it becomes normal. its not going to be a drastic difference.

Are the sidewalls really that stiff? The extra height doesn't cancel that out? Interesting. I had thought that it might ride the same or even a bit softer because of the extra sidewall height.
I should just keep the stock set up but I just can't wrap my mind around a 4x4 truck with 20" chrome wheels. (I guess that makes me an old)

the extra side wall from 17" wheels does add cushion compared to say a similar height set up with 20" wheels and e rated tires, but not compared to the stock set up. the stock tires are super soft. its not a bad ride or super stiff, i preferred it. feels more like a truck and less like a car. but yea, its going to be a bit stiffer then stock.

I did about the same thing. My stock wheel and tires were 71 a piece.

Personally, I would go with a 0mm offset.

Just helps if you ever decide to go wider down the road...and not have to buy spacers.

I was going to but I wanted to stay close to stock so they would have less to complain about if I ever need warranty work on my suspension.
I have the lifetime warranty and I don't want any hassles.
As I have the air suspension I'm pretty sure it's going to be needing work sooner rather than later.
