K&N Cold Air Kit

I was curious if anyone has ever had any issues after installing a Cold Air Intake on their 5th Gen RAM 5.7 Hemi?............I run a K&N Air Filter, but, before I invest into a complete kit, I want to do my homework.

The general consensus is that our Ram’s have a pretty darn good intake system from the factory .... A change will yield minimal results, other than a smaller bank account .... If you insist, then K&N will make a bunch of noise under the hood, and the S&B will look really good .... All I did was go to an AEM filter

Just install an OEM air box from an Eco Diesel 1500 truck... better flow, and OEM quality and reliability!

Doing this was proven on the Gen4 trucks as the opening of the airbox was larger, not sure if this still applies on the Gen5 trucks.

The air filter on the Gen4 EcoDiesel was the same as the 6.4L and was thicker w/more pleats than the the 5.7/3.6 air filter.

I installed a vararaam. Before this I had stock intake. I also have a tuner with a Greene tune and pedal commander. After I installed the vararaam I could really feel the difference in my seat anyway. S&b are also very nice intakes. Point is they do help when complimented with other things. Also the stock intake is a little small. A lot of guys installed the air box from the eco diesel in place of the factory box. It has a bigger air opening allowing more air.

How do you like this new RAM intake system. I was looking for their performance numbers but have not been able to find any. This unit is selling for $1500 Cnd. That's pretty expensive for an CAI. Did you notice a performance improvement.

Spectre Cold Air Intake. Made ( maybe, apparently, reputedly) by K&N. Looked nice in my 17. That’s definitely all it did. Retails for a fraction of K&N.
Look it up if you need pics. Chrome intake tube comes with it not black plastic. I liked it.

K&N's are great at sucking hot air, but that's about it. I threw the one that came on my truck in garbage and went with the best thing on the market for the Ram, the Vararam!
S&B's come close and Ram has started copying the Vararam's design, but nothing works better or looks cooler than the original.
