FB0DC13D-806B-45AC-90D6-D74AB87BB189.jpeg Curiosity got the better of me after I kept on reading about Kreen on bobistheoilguy. Most of the users reported very positive results. I drive a 2016 2500 5.7 Hemi; truck is currently at 95K miles. I have always been meticulous about maintenance (5K full synthetic oil change interval with either Liquimoly MOS2 or Lubegard Biotech and quality filter: WIX XP, Bosch, Purolator Boss). Never had any engine issues and the lifter noise was very minor (cold acceleration, acceleration on a grade etc). I ordered a gallon of Kreen and put 16 oz into the oil.

The oil (PUP 5w30) only had 4K miles on it. I was running the Purolator Boss filter. I ran the Kreen for only 300 miles.

Results:

First 50 miles = lifter noise reduced by at least 50%
Next 100 miles = any lifter noise eliminated

You are supposed to run it for 1,000 miles but wanted to change out the filter sooner just in case. The oil came out very dark and the filter felt heavier than usual. Still no noise with the new oil. I am thoroughly impressed. My theory is that the Kreen cleaned out the varnish off of the liters (Burla please chime in). I intend to do an 8oz treatment the next oil change and go back to regular oil changes.

If it is the same as old kreen then it is probably the best known cleaner on the market. I don't now how safe or smart it is to run 1,000 miles, or even if it would benefit you. I think 100 miles should clean the hell out of an engine, stuff is so powerful you can't buy it here.

msds, the last two numbers is the % range of that item, lots of solvent. For your seals sake, I'd run it as a cleaner once in a while if you feel the need and then change the oil. Tons of examples on bitog how strong it is.

Severely Hydrotreated Petroleum Distillates 64742-52-5 15-25
Aliphatic Petroleum Distillates 64742-95-6/64742-88-7 15-25
Aliphatic Alcohols 78-92-2/123-42-2 15-25
Glycol Ether 111-76-2 5-15
Aliphatic Ketone 78-93-3 5-15
Proprietary Ingredients Proprietary 5-15

If I was to use it I would wait til I had a long trip and run it and then change the oil when I got home. Hell of a cleaner for sure.

Kreen is a great product, I wish they would ship it here, good stuff. IMO best flush on the market of the ones I know of anyhow. Man ten years ago they had some killer photo's on how effective this stuff was, especially those old sludgers like Saab and Toyota. Check out bitog on usage, I'm pretty sure it is so effective you don't need 1,00 miles. Thanks for posting.

Kreen in use, now I would say this, it's going to clean metal, but not much else. So if the issue is some carbon on the lifters, this is gonna likely help. But, since you cant run it all the time, you still have to put some thought into oil or additives that will lubricate the area.

An example of ketone is acetone, just one of the many solvents in kreen.

For ***** and giggles i wonder how mixing a 1/2 quart of Diesal fuel and 1/2 quart of Acetone together would work as a flush.I've never tried, but have wondered if it'd work as a flush.

Probably wouldn't hurt anything and the acetone will likely clean, but I would want to get it out after a short while for the same reason. Maybe MMO and acetone, now that sounds like fun. I also wonder about a PEA cleaner as a flush. Anyhow, generally speaking I don't like the idea of flushes unless there is a good reason for it.

What got me about that video was the kreen was measured out into a bottle which seemed to be 16 - 20 oz. And after pouring the whole bottle in, he tapped the bottle to get the last drop out as if that last drop would make a difference.

I've never been a fan of flushes,as anything that's harsh enough to dissolve sludge build-ups,is also harsh enough to dry up seals and cause them to eventually leak. Diesal fuel i've seen used as a flush ,but i've never seen it and acetone mixed, which i've always wondered if the 2 mixed would be a cheap and fairly effective flush.

autorx is the answer, it is a flush, but it takes a long time to work. BTW, they want you to use conventional oil with it. It is kinda cool, you see ash on the dipstick over time. Now you can buy it on amazon. It wont dislodge sludge, it slowly goes at it. I used in older vehicles in the engine and transmission. It is ester based, which kinda makes me wonder if you use an ester based oil will you even need a flush?

I know when we did my cam swap on my truck, the inside of it was spotless, but it's been on Redline and Royal Purple filters since it's first oil change at 800 miles. Thanks to you Mike, lol

Yeah, unless there is a design issue like the old toyo's or old saabs if you run a good synthetic you wont see any sludge, maybe some varnish, but I don't think a flush will get that anyhow. Since there is no way to soak the metal you will just get so much from a flush.

Back in my days of having to use chemicals to degrease or clean, we used Trichloroethylene to degrease metal, Methylethylketone would stripe adhesives, and Freon from DuPont mixed with deionized water to clean flux and soldering components off of Surface Mount circuit boards, that stuff looks like rocket fuel and is it Flammable?
