Well I posted this else where, pretty much sets the tone on how I feel about the wwhole stick on real deal hood issue........

here's my 2 cts, The srt style is intriguing, But the fuctionality with out the proper cai is a waste of money. One simply does not benefit from the design. I made a thread, asking if the stick on would be more acceptable with it customised to become ''functional''. It was overwhelming the responses too the negative side of the situation. Granted the real deal is still the real deal. But to dismiss it as a knock-off. Would be the same as Riding a Harley and calling the Victory motorcycle as a wannabe Harley. They both share a look and in reality a common goal. That said, a stick on is monatarily superior and if one was too customise a stick on too ''functionality''. They would be equal in both looks, but not performance. With certain cai ad-ons not withstanding. Only difference would be the seam that is almost hidden too the watchful eye. Granted there are stick ons that are woeful. But the one picked by the op is hands down an upgrade, albeit a cosmetic one. Had the op declared a srt hood with the correct intake, I do not mean the insert!! (Thats more for adaptability in foul weather and too channel air towards the correct intake.)
Then the upgrade to an srt steel hood would be far and away superior than the stick on. Money would not enter into it. Because then the srt hood would be doing two things. Enhancing looks and performance. Cooling the engine compartment is accomplished thru normal grill and stock engine compartment perameters.imho.

are you aware the srt scoop is NOT an intake?? its actually an exhaust? Its a low pressure zone that pulls heat from under the hood. Look at it in an airflow chamber. The venom can be used as an intake because the opening is tall enough to collect air.

I I I I did not know that, I could see the cowl hood offering that cooling effect.forcing air from the outside thru the engine compartment too the windshield. The cowl induction set up would be far more advantagious than a regular srt hood in that case. Lmc has them for 599. plus 125 for shipping. If a reg, srt hood is too live up too it's billing, How would the heated air, force it's way around the ram air effect that the hood is supposed to create in the first place? I get the low pressure heat rising physics part of it, Just don't see that much heeat coming thru a scoop that was intended for an inlet for cool air. At least thats what I always thought the scoop was there for. HHHMMMM . I think a letter too chrysler is in order.

I'll sell you my hood for $800

sp

$ + my hood? lol. I don't know how much gas it would take but the fact i wouldn't have to worry about getting it painted might make it worth the drive. I'm planning on either doing my hood or the rumblebee/daytona body kit next.

That sig pic of yours is already styling a daytona styled bumper, isn't it? Is so you don't have far to go. That will look awesome. Go for it!!:birgits_tiredcoffee

The front bumper is made by Truck Master Designs. I'm going to buy the daytona side skirts and all the bed pieces. The front bumper is lower than the sides and it bugs me.

These:
Bed accents

side skirts
Mopar OEM Dodge Ram Pre-Painted Side Sill Molding Accents 02-09 - AutoTruckToys.com

They come pre painted although I'm going to alter some of the pieces. I need to fill in the exhaust cutout on the back corner piece, then cut out part of the side skirt. I'm running my new setup out the passenger side before the rear tire.

lol you could buy the scoop, and pay me $1000, I wouldn't put one on my truck. I'm very perfectionate and am not happy unless my mods are done 100% correctly and professionally. I'm most likely going with the SRT hood. It's still imo one of the best looking hoods (even though everyone and their mother has it) and the fact it's oem/steel sells it for me.

show details 12:25 PM (2 hours ago)

Dear William:

Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center
regarding the Dodge Ram SRT-10 hood scoop.

The hood scoop routs large quantities of air over the engine for cooling
and into the air intake for performance.

Thanks again for your email.

Sincerely,

Joe
