I am trying to program a new FOB for my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SE. The Dodge dealer could not get this FOB programmed, but said they could fix it if I paid them $180.00 per hour for as long as it took to program the FOB. The FOB I bought from the deaLER is an OEM fob that cannot be returned. I have tried two locksmiths, the dealer, and neither could program the FOB. I know I have power to the reception plug and I have a FOB that works. Someone told me that my aftermarket radio might be interferring with the RF signal. Any thoughts on the aftermarket radio theory?

Try disconnecting the battery fuse and see if you can pair.

You have an OEM key fob on a 2004 hemi? But no win module or rf hub, so you can start your truck with just a key? Key fob is simply for remote start and/or open doors? My only point you could easily get a cheap after market fob even with an alarm and it wont effect your pcm or anything like that. For lack of better words those were stupid fobs compared to the ones they have 4 gen. It would be cheaper then your dealer quote my guess. All kinds of stereo shops sell alarm deals used to be 199, probably now 299 or around there. Your new "dumb" fob would have alarm, actuators for door, remote start option, disable ignition option, etc.

My old fob still works, actuates doorlocks, and a cut key will start the ram; however, I just want a new fob to unlock the doors. For some reason I cannot get a fob to accept a new code. I just want a remote door lock actuator. Would a remote start system get the job done?

I don't have any idea what the signal was in 04, Google says tach, then ram went to rolling code signal, now it is a very technical frequency. Whatever, if you go to an audio shops, they will put a remote start or an alarm with actuators entry level less then 500. If they can match your actuator signal winner winner, that usually saves you at least 60 a part, so 2 doors minus 120. This was pricing like 10 years ago pricing. Thats the extent of what I can offer, I have never been good at the wiring stuff, but yes it is very doable. 2004 you don't have a locked pcm, so it isn't that hard. All you have to do to reset is disconnect = hard reset.
