Keyless entry 2012 3500 ST

Hello all! New to the forum. I think this topic has been discussed at length. Done a lot of reading here about 13+ mods concerning keyless entry/remote start/fogs. Thanks all for the info. I’m looking to add a fobik for keyless entry to my 2012 Cummins 3500. Called dealer they said the truck didn’t come with one. I figured the truck probably had the hardware but just wasn’t assigned a fob, so I ended up buying 2 different sets and programmed them and enabled function with JScan tool. Keys start the truck but the lock and unlock functions don’t work. I’m assuming I’m missing hardware but unsure what. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I think you will need to look into how to install and program a WIM for your truck. If I read this right, none of your wireless functions are working but proximity starting with the key in the ignition is.

Thanks for the reply. Changing WIN looks pretty simple. One video I watched showed a WIN with remote start connection, I suppose I’m wondering how much more would be involved adding remote start as well. Also, I’m unfamiliar with the key programming. Are they only able to be programmed once or can i reprogram the to the new WIN?

I've never done it myself but I believe if the new FOBs worked the first time to start it you won't have issues programming them to a new WIN. The closest I've come is reprogramming existing FOBs/WIN to add factory remote start.

I’ve Seen 3 different WINs on Mopar site with no real description or view of remote start connection. Prices ranged from 270 to about 550. I assume it’d be the more expensive option. Oddly enough rock auto only offers 1 and it is w/o remote start. Anyone with thoughts or experience with this?
