I'm a newbie... just bought 2014 Lonestar Crew 4x4. Looking for info on leveling. By seeing what's out there I assume a 2" is what i need to level my truck? Not looking for a "lift" just want to level it out... any an all info would be greatly appreciated...Secondly do i have to replace the shocks?

Read my post in my sig, I just paid money to take out my coil spacer and opted for the bilstien 5100's. It is still a cheap way to level the truck, but it wont bind up your shocks and springs.

Plus hunt for the thread where a dude was denied warranty coverage because his ball joints blew after only a few miles after installing a coil spacer. I don't know if they would also deny coverage if you had the 5100 leveling kit, but if you did use that kit I doubt you would ever have ball joint issues.

Generally speaking some kind of a leveling shock/adjustable shock is almost always the best way to go if you are not doing a lift, if you have a 2 wheel drive lift coils or drop spindles are best IMO however much pricier than coil spacers, and on a 2 wheel drive spacers do not affect the geometry any thing like the do on a 4 wheel drive.

I know you said you were 4 wheel drive so the 2 wheel drive bit won't apply to you but is good info for the future :)

As far as what would be best for you the first thing before anyone can make a good recommendation is to know whether or not you have the air ride suspension or the standard suspension, if you have the air ride suspension then you almost have to do a complete coil over suspension system as they do not make any leveling kits for the air ride that I am aware of. If you have the standard suspension I would look into Fox, Rancho, Bilstein, and Pro Comp, they all make a leveling shock/strut and some are adjustable for height, and some the ride firmness is even adjustable.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!
