I'm looking to slap on a nice 2.5in leveling kit on my 2013 dodge ram 4x4 SLT

anyone know a good brand for a cost price of 100-300$ range? and easy to do? apparently from a Chrysler dodge dealership ( brand new truck ) 2.5in is the most you can go anything higher can void warranty? does that follow over from other dealerships? just curious! i haven't really asked how high i can go, just from others telling me!

and whats the max i can run for a tire-size with a 2.5in level kit???

THANKYOU!

For that money I'd go with the Bilstein 5100's up front. I installed those and 1.75" rear coil spacers and kept it under $300. Did the install myself. Don't need 1.75", but I wanted some rake for when the bed is hauling something.

More than 2.5" isn't recommended anyway, for anything higher look into an actual lift kit. But either HellBent Steel or Bilsteins will level it out just fine.

I believe the top two settings on a 4th gen are 2.1 and 2.8.. leveling shocks will not work in the rear. To do it yourself you will need a coil spring compressor. Auto parts stores usually rent them out.

Sweet. Thanks. I just don't see how a set of shocks can lift the front end. Every truck I have ever owned I had to install a block, spacer, leaf spring or something big to lift it. Lol.

They aren't shocks. They're struts with a multi position spring seat that varies the preload on the coil spring to achieve the different heights. I installed mine today, took about 45 minutes, but I have a hoist.

What ones did you do, the blistein ones. And what height did you use. Also, do we have to have an alignment done afterwards.

I have the Bilsteins set at 2.1" to remove the rake from my 6" lift. You will have to get an alignment done afterwards

Yea always get an alignment after any sort of geometry change in your suspension. The bilsteins are almost as easy as front blocks with the added step of breaking down the coil spring / strut. If you intend to ever add more lift I suggest bills because you can use the strut on the lift kit to still adjust your level. Will be a little harsher at first but they break in well.

My biggest reason for doing it is because I am gonna put a heavy duty brush guard on the front end. If I can't find one I like (it has to be able to take a 200lbs deer strike at 70mph) I am gonna have a friend make me one that owns a power coating business. He has made several for people that had 1 ton trucks and those things have actually took hits from other vehicles and trees at slower speeds and survived with only scratches. But they weight a lot. It's like putting a snow plow on the front.

Definitely go 2.8 setting then. A rig hand put a 2.5" level on his then put the westin brush guard on it and it brought it down probably 1.5"

If I ever decide what to do with my front bumper I'm gonna go up to 2.8 to compensate for added weight.

Does the blistein go up to 2.8"?. I don't ever plan on putting a full lift kit and tires on my truck. Those days are behind me. Lol. My 85 dodge power wagon regular cab w/long bed had 12" lift all suspension and I ran 44" ground hawgs on it. It was a beast. I also had a set of 44" gumbo murders on it and an off brand set. Mud tires don't last long when ya drive a lot of highway miles. Lol. I drove it from Fort Riley KS in 1990 to 1992 to West Virginia a few times and them from WV to Fort Hood Texas too. Lol. Those were some rough rides.

I went 2.8 and added a TGC 1inch spacer and it sits Perfectly level. I'm thinking of selling the TGC spacer and going to something else in the rear though. I want a little more rake.

Do you have any pics? I was just gonna go with the HBS 2.5" up front and leave the rear alone but now you've sparked my interest lol
