Hi
I'm from England and Rams are fairly rare here so I wanted to get some advice and help.
I've had my 2012 1500 Laramie Longhorn 4WD for around 3 years now and its been such an excellent all-round vehicle.

What I wanted some help on is lifting/levelling.

Here at what I've noted down as potential options;

A) Level - Bilstein 5100 24-187367 for the front at 2.1" (Rockauto have them on for $114)

B) Level - Bilstein 5100 24-187367 for the front at 2.8", Bilstein 5100 24-187374 for the rear at 1" (Rockauto have them on for $80)

C) A lift kit. Ideally 4" or 6" but Im not sure what this involves. Is a body lift or suspension lift needed? Is it worth doing the level first to get a small lift and then a lift kit? Or does that make the bilstein level redundant?

Any help is appreciated. I saw these lift kits on ebay but didn't know if they are any good;

Zone Off Road 3.5" Suspension/Body Lift Kit, Dodge Ram 1500 4WD D59 = $650
Rough Country 3.0" Suspension Lift Kit, for 12-17 Ram 1500 4WD; 31230 = $600

Sorry for all the questions but lifted/levelled pick-ups are rare in England, and Dodge Rams are even rarer.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It depends on what you are trying to do. What do you want the end result to be?

Well I'd like to lift it as high as possible without damaging the use of the truck or going over $800-$900, as I've also got to pay for shipping to England and then pay taxes and duty, so the cost can rise quickly. Also, the British £ is not worth much these days, so the currency conversion rates aren't that good.

I thought a lift wouldn't be possible for that sort of price, but then saw on ebay US the above items for a 3"-3.5" lift that were within my budget.

If I did option B and lifted the front 2.8" and the rear 1". Could I install one of these ebay 3.5" lift kits onto that so the total front lift will be 6.3" and the rear 4.5"?

Don't take this as gospel as im more of a 2500 guy, haven't worked on a 1500 in a while. Can you do what you are asking yes, but you will more then likely do damage.
Here's the plain Jane truth. You really can't do what you want for that kind of money. You might be able to get a 6" RC lift and the truth is it's built well, but will ride like a bucking bronco trying to throw you to the moon. Here is honestly what I would do. Level it, body lift, then save for a 6" suspension lift.

Thanks for that, plain truth is the best way. I don't want it to ride like **** so would rather do it properly or not do it at all.

So you recommend to A) Level it, B) body lift, C) save for a 6" suspension lift.

A) Level using Bilstein 5100 24-187367 for the front at 2.8", Bilstein 5100 24-187374 for the rear at 1".

B) Body lift - what would you recommend?

Rear Bilstein shocks don’t lift 1” ... They are just made longer to work with a 1” spacer

Yes as said either, don't need rear shocks unless yours are bad. A body lift I like performance accessories.
