As the title says, what would your thoughts be on this?

I have the black mesh Grillcraft inserts in the factory cross hair grill.

Was thinking about using the Vision X light cannons behind there for a low profile look. Maybe the Gen2 6.7inch light cannon, or the 4.7inch ones.

Just have led strips behind the grill. Was going to install floods in the grill but decided against it. I’ve got the mesh grill too

I like the back glow of the strips, but ws wondering how much if any, would having a light cannon behind the grill cut down on the effective light...

They should work great!!
I have nilight 6" pods behind my honeycomb grill and are bright as hell, light cannons would be crazy bright!!!!
Pods in tow hook blanks too
Lights should shine thru mesh grill just fine, honeycomb has more/bigger obstacles

I am very familiar with VisionX. I have run a variety of their lights. You can check out my experience here:

https://www.ramforum.com/threads/visionx-gen2-light-cannons.114184/

Anywho, it looks like you are willing to spend some $$$$$. With VisionX, expect their products to be pricey, and very high quality.

I personally think you will be disappointed with a light behind the grill. With expensive lighting, you want to experience all of its glory and the mesh grill will block a considerable amount of light. I know from experience.

I love the Light Cannons. The look is great and they make the best round lights in the industry. Why don’t you invest in one of these:

It is a lot of money, but, authorized retailers will have killer promotions during the holidays and you can get dialed in for a lot less then the advertised price on VisionX’s website. Good luck.

^ that is a great option for sure. I too have a hard time justifying 1k$ for the grill. I don’t know your financial situation and just figured I would throw it out there. I don’t think anyone with a normal brain would buy that grill at that price.

Anywho, hit up moes performance and inquire about the parking sensors. I think that method of mounting would look great and Perform far better than behind a mesh grill. Good luck. Please share when finished. Would love to see the end result.

It might be a bit of time to scrape up the money for the Light Cannons. Disposable income is starting to become in short supply now that winter is slowly approaching....I have to get finished up with winterizing almost everything at the homestead.

The Westin bar looks pretty affordable especially for what it does. I think you are right about reducing the light output behind the grill. I want to keep it low profile, but spending money on a high end light and then reducing it's ability to throw light is not a smart choice.

That bar will interfere with your front parking sensors

Crap....do you think it would cover the sensors or stick out to the side far enough for the sensor to pick it up?

A few here have tried this and failed, it definitely interferes with the signal from the sensors

just curious about the use case here other than blinding people? for use out on country roads where there's no other light? trying to understand.

Would have to guess back roads (although I do see some idiots who drive around town with them on day and night). I really miss my lightbar for the back roads, we have SO many deer around here and with my lightbar I could see them a good 20 yards or so off the road. With just my headlights and high beams I can't see them very far off the road at all. Wish my 17 had the same sport bumpers as my last 2 trucks so I could put it back on.

And of course mine wouldn't be on all the time, I used it like you would use high beams, just when you're able to and need to.

Gotcha. That makes sense. Lots of deer around here and can see how that would help

Oh yes, it helps big time. I'm considering ways to add the light bar on my current ram even though it won't look nearly as good as it had previously on my last 2 sports. Would definitely recommend the light bar or some kind of additional lighting for more peace of mind on those dark roads.

Yeah I’m usually in town so it’s not a huge deal. Mostly street lights to show the deer.

Same here, probably in town 90-95% of the time but it's still a nice luxury to have. I just know the few times I am on those back roads, I miss having the overkill lights a lot.
