I did a few launches last night, doing a little practice for the track this year. It's apparent I have traction problems now that it's tuned. I have a 2012 RCSB Express with 3:55 open rear. I'm OK with the gear ratio's, and I heard it's a pain to change them on a 2012 4wd anyway, so I'm sticking with the 3:55's. I also enjoy getting 22mpg highway right now as well. Question is, will this work on my 2012----> Auburn Limited Slip Differential for 9.25" Rear

Is it a straight forward installation without any maching required? I have to find a good shop around here that's willing to install it if possible. I may look at doing this sometime this summer.

Thanks, the reason I'm asking is I know the carriers on 2011 on up have to be modified to install aftermarket gears. So I'm wondering if one of the LSD's from Moes is a direct install for the 2012's or if I have to have some modifications done.

I'm also looking at an edge converter eventually. I wish I lived somewhere that didn't get snow, then I would have bought a 2wd Express, a lot cheaper to do gears. But honestly, with the stock 20" tires, and the lighter RCSB with the Bully Dog tune, this thing freakin moves even with the 3:55's. I think I can get it in the 13's if it hooks. I'm also looking at getting a set of 17 inch wheels with some sticky rubber to throw on for some track fun.

I'm in the same boat and solution for now is using 4wd to get tracktion. I am thinking hard about putting a factory LSD in if aftermarket solutions won't work.

The Detriot TruTrack sounds interesting. No clutches/maintenance/or friction modifier to add.

yep

was looking at the 'true trac'. i think that would be the best street/strip from what i have been reading. these trucks rip pretty good, but you know how it is... you get used to it and all of a sudden it feels slow again! :suicide:

Unfortunately, nobody makes an aftermarket limited slip unit yet for the new ZF axle that is in the 2011-2012's. Your only option would be to get the one that comes from the factory. We dont have it listed on the site yet, but the factory unit is $519 shipped.

Well, I guess that's the way I'll have to go then.

Have you considered a tire swap? I ask this because I had a 2006 RCSB Hemi. The stock Goodyear tires were absolute garbage. In the dry they were decent at best, but even on just damp roads the tire would easily break loose. Once I changed the tires the hook up (even in wet) was incredible. On the dry pavement it was hard to break the tires loose. I installed Hankook Ventus tires, and it was like I was drive a totally different truck.

Matt is correct. The Mopar LSD is the only option for the ZF.
Finally having mine installed as I type this.

Yes as a matter of fact, I'm looking at these.

Awesome! How about some more details. Where did you buy it from? Who's doing the install? What all did you have to buy? Approximate cost?

I actually would not mind buying the factory one. Are they any good? Got a part number?

This may be the part number but I'm not sure. I'm thinking about calling my dealer for the install to keep the warranty intact.

If you have a 4x4 the only option on a 2012 is replacing the front axle assy with a 09-11 axle.
You can only go to a 3.92 front and rear with factory parts.

For those with 2wd you can machine the factory LSD to accept the 9.25 ring and pinion.

I'm not interested in doing gears, I'm just interested in adding a LSD to my stock rear. I know the hassle involved in changing gears on a 2012 4X4 so I'm not gonna bother. Just looking for a little more traction and getting rid of the one wheel peel. I emailed my dealer so hopefully they get back to me soon with an estimate.

Good. I can tell you the tire swap was a 1000% improvement. Honestly I thought there was something wrong with the truck, and over time as the tires wore the truck really became dangerous to drive in wet weather.
It was actually crazy how much better the truck drove and handled with the tire change. Do you have a friend that has a ram with different tires so you could do a swap and test?
