locking 5th wheel hitch

Just curious if anyone has installed a lock of some kind to keep the 5th wheel hitch from being stolen out of your truck?

Yes those work well for the trailers I am talking about the hitch itself it the truck. Mine is the Ram puck system, easy to install and remove and in parts of the country that is the problem.

OH sorry, there's a bunch of them. I had one I used on my GMC, the only problem was the one I used, the lock corroded so bad I had to have the locking hitch pin cut off.

I did it with a cable and padlock. This pic isn't great, but you can see the cable runs beneath the mounting rails, between two rails of the lower mount, and thru an opening below the fifth wheel plate.

If you're wondering, the receiver underneath was welded on later, so I could mount the winch for pulling my (heavy) boat up onto it's trailer.

I would think the weight of the fifth wheel hitch would discourage most thieves. Locks, for the most part, keep honest folks honest. I've never seen an off the shelf solution, you may have to fab one up yourself. Make it complicated enough to discourage the crook so they move on to an easier target.
