yes I meant 33's on stock wheels...not tires.
Anyone have any pics of 33's on stock wheels by chance?

I might have missed it but, what are the diameter of your wheels?

I have the stock 20's...but as far as the 33's...??? Not sure what I'm looking for. I know I don't want to lose the great ride I have but I also would like to enhance my offroad capabilities as well as the overall look.

I think 285/60-20 is around 33" and about 11" wide if I remember right. There are some tire conversion stuff on here to confirm..

I have had good luck with Toyo A/T's and BFG A/T. I wouldn't suggest mounting mud terrian tires on your rig unless you are going to be using them often. You will loose gas mileage and why spend a couple extra hundred dollars when you might need the agressive tires a couple days of the year.

So, 285/60/20 came out to be 33.5". Not much difference! lol

The ride won't be affected, even with the leveling kit, so much that you won't like it. a 33" tire in a mud & snow or mud terrain tread pattern will be a lot noisier than the stock tires. Handling may feel a bit weird at first as the tires are wider and have larges spaces between the tread blocks, which in a slow turn situation like in a parking lot, it may feel like they squirm a bit.

In your case, as is the case with many others, you may not need that aggressive of a tread if most of your miles are on-road and most of the off-road use is mild. In that case, an All Terrain (A/T) style tire may suit you better. They still give good off-road traction when needed.

As far as size, a stock 20" wheel is 8.5 to 9.0 inches wide I believe and I'm leaning towards 9" as stock. In that case, a P275/60R20 is right at 33" tall and fits a 9" wide wheel just fine.

Other size choices in LT (light truck) tires that fit your rims would be:

LT275/65R20 - Just a shade over 34" tall and will fit with the leveling kit installed.

LT285/55R20 - Just a shade over 32" tall.

There are other sizes available to choose from depending on what brand you go for.

There are quite a few pics of trucks here with stock 20's with 33's and a leveling kit on them. It's a pretty common upgrade.

Thank you all for the great info...much appreciated! Looks like I have some more research to do but one thing I know for sure is that the stock Goodyear tires...are junk!

Dave can probably give you a little better info than me since he actually has them on his truck but what little I've driven my brothers truck, they do fine in water or wet roads. Little to no hydroplaning if you hit a puddle or something at high speeds. And I've never driven his truck in snow but I know he swears they're the best snow tire he's ever had and I have seen his trucks do some amazing things when there's snow on the ground so. I won't say they're the best bc I don't enough about every tire to say but I know just from what my brothers said and what I've seen, they're a great tire. And like I said. He had a 3/4 ton silverado classic and got over 50,000 miles. 2 guys he works with have 1/2 ton silverados and one got 70,000 miles out of it which shocked the hell out of me and the other got 60,000 so. I think they're probably one of the more versatile tires there are.

Hey I don't think anyone has mentioned that Toyo came out with the Open Country A/T 2 which looks like its going to be one heck of a tire. 65k mile warranty on the P metric and I think they even have a 50k mile warranty with the 10 plys. I used to run the first Open Countries on my Mazda and got 60k out of those. Oh also just an FYI Toyo makes Nitto tires. Both great tires for the money IMO.
