As much as I would like to avoid them, not everyone that rides in my truck is tall enough to not have to jump to get in (wife included). Retractable would be awesome but I don't have the budget for that. I really don't want anything that hangs low off the body. High and tight would be preferred, and black to match the truck. Any suggestions? Also I have seen aluminum ones and powder coated steel any thoughts/concerns one way another?

Thanks everyone.

Save for the AMPs...lol

I had RBP RX-1's that fit pretty tight to the body. Even so, the steps hung down far enough that I was often dragging them on things - rocks, roots... I also can't recommend them as RBP has some of the worst customer service I've ever dealt with.

I hate to add to the AMP theme, but they are so worth it. I had factory and hated them, I looked at Magnum ICI (think that's the right name) but heard they rusted and had to be rhino lined. The AMPs are so worth the money and make the truck look a lot better. While it's a $1000-1500 difference...it's so worth it in the long run.

I had NFab ones and I liked the look of them. Rugged and took a beating off-road. Problem is that their powder coating sucks. Rusted and flaking within the first 18 months. And in the winter they collect a lot of snow and make the 12" foot pad nearly unusable unless you spent a minute with your toe to clear them out.
Also, my wife is 5' and she hated them for trying to back out of the truck after buckling up our young ones. She could never find the step and slipped a few times.

Now that she's preggo again I put the stockers back on as they have twice the foot pad area and fit tighter to the body than my NFab ones.
I'll save up for AMP's for next summer hopefully. They truly are the best in my opinion.

I loved the look of my NFab ones but didn't like their functionality.

I could care less about the stock ones but they are functional and the price was right. Lol

Amps are the cats ass but I can't justify the investment right now.

If I had it my way I wouldn't have any. I think she looks way better without anything. But that's what the Cummins is for. The Hemi is the family rig so concessions have to be made. LOL

Mopar ones are nice for the money....but if I could do it over, I'd save for the Amps

Well, i landed on the iBoard running boards. I liked the look of them because they hugged up close to the truck and didn't hand down low or too far our. Once i add the OE Style full opening bushwacker flares i think the look will be really clean. The running boards should arrive next week and i'll post pics once installed. Once they arrive, i'll take a look at the supplied hardware and see if i need to fab up a backer plate or if any of the hardware needs to be powder coated prior to installation. i'll also access the hardware and see if i need to upgrade any of that. The benefits of being a buyer for fasteners and metal. For now, here is a pic for reference (not on my truck).ib-dr208b__y2.jpg

Not a fan of the i board. They also don't have any openings to stop stuff from collecting on them, snow and crap. I also suspect they would get slippery with no drainage.

I rock $118shipped 3" round black powdercoated ebays bc I can't afford AMPs. So far (2 years) and they are doing fine. Snow doesn't collect due to the open design and while they hang out a bit further they actually help with shopping carts and crap from hitting the sides. Amps are clean but don't offer the protection. My wife is 5'1" and needed them to get in.

Thanks for the input. I am in NC, so not a lot of concern about snow collecting on them. I think they will look good on the truck, and I will keep everyone posted

Well the iBoards are on. Took longer than anticipated because the directions were atrocious. Brackets were poorly labeled and not enough pictures. Happy with the heat end results though. Pictures to follow later.

I wish they were about a inch or so narrower, but still happy with them overall. Once the flares are on, i think it will really set off the look.

I was like you....I didn't want them but knew I would need them with my wife.

I researched every conceivable option & settled on the Westin HDX Drop Steps. They sit nice & tight like rockrails, & the steps (particularly the front ones) are oversized for easy in & out of the cab.
