Hey all, I had a 5.9 for years then went to a toyota tundra. Now Iam looking to get a 2018 6.7. If Iam reading correctly, its almost getting impossible to get tunes to do the deletes for all the emissions crap. And leaving it all intact its going to be a on going expense with turbos, egr's etc......Now Iam flat out worried about getting a 6.7 , is there anything else that can be done.. not looking for performance just tryin for more reliability. Just tryin to do my homework to see if I want to jump back into a diesel......I can always settle for a 6.4 gasser but they are worlds apart from the cummins

I personally would not buy a new diesel

That is JMO

Id find an old one and fix it up.

Otherwise gasser all the way. I love my 6.4

x2 no doubt, at least go pre def. HO Cummins were unbelievably reliable and high performance, and can easily be upgraded. Look for rfe upgrades though, the tranny is the weakness but easily upgradable. But, they also made a lot of manuals in those years, get one and that is money. I had one, the clutch doesn't reguire use of gas pedal. So even towing you can move forward with a load without using gas pedal, no drifting backwards unless a darwin is driving.

I would never buy a new Cummins or any modern diesel, the juice aint worth the squeeze.

Agreed on pre Def 6.7 or even 5.9. If I ever consider a diesel, I'll go with one of those & spend the extra money on trans rather than Def maintenance.
