2019 5th gen 1500 recently bought. R/side folding mirror would have problems indexing when going both out and in. So I bought the Gruven parts to fix, as I had used Gruven a few years back on a GM truck, and those parts worked great.
My first attempt at fixing the mirror, I watched a few vids on YouTube and looked at the PDF instructions on the Gruven web site. But somehow I still messed up. This job is not as easy as the GM style was, the motor cases are different. I believe 4th Gen RAMs are the same as the GM style. On the old style GM/RAM case, you could pry it apart and pop it back together. On the 5th Gen motor case, it's solid plastic, so you have to use a Dremel (or similar) to actually cut the case in half, and then glue it back together. The job is a PITA for sure.
Anyway, my mirror is still not indexing correctly. It takes two or three tries to settle into position, and I think I must have somehow messed up the installation of the nylon stop ring. The motor and gears work perfectly and smoothly.
Does anyone have a really good tutorial on this job? I need to do some more studying before I tackle this job again.... Thanks
