im looking into a truck for work, I am a photographer and do lots of traveling with a couple other photographers within the state. we have a lot of equipment and if i can carry it in a vehicle i earn more milage. wanting to haul it in the back seat and bed of the truck with a truck bed cover...(NOT a camper shell)

I think it will all fit with the mega cab... not sure about the crew cab..

the problem in making my decision is the mpg of the hemi engine?

was wondering what everyone here is getting for mpg and how you drive it??

also if anyone has pics of their back seat of crew cab or mega cab loaded up that would help, please specify which it is if you post any pics

you can haul quite a bit of stuff in both. The seats fold up to provide more storage, you could fold up 2 seats and still have one down in the back. I don't know how much stuff you have, but you could fit a lot. The mega-cab gives you another 8 -10 inches room between the backseat and the frontseat, but you will lose a bit of mpg with the mega-cab, its got a 2500 frame so it weighs more, therefore worse mpgs. Range of mpgs depending on how you drive with the hemi in the QC will be 10-13 city and 14-19 highway, mega-cab will be 1-2 mpg worse generally. You can google image search for pictures of the interiors.

I have a mega 1500 and its got plenty of room. However mpg on the highway is around 14-15 and 11-13 in the city and that's keeping my foot out of it and little to no weight in the bed. I towed a trailer with roughly 3k lbs. in it and I got 12-13 on the highway. The truck has plenty of power on tap especially if you do some mods. It's a great engine/truck however if your gonna be doing a lot of driving/hauling dig a little deeper and get the Cummins that's what those engines were designed to do.

IMO if that's all you want a truck for you're wasting a lot of money in gas. A station wagon (something like a subaru with good clearance) can hold of a lot of gear and get much much better gas mileage.

I hate to say it but get a van. I know they look like crap but they work well for what they are. Comfortable roomy and good gas mileage. We use them at work all the time on trips and they definitely work well for that. We load them up with 4 or 5 guys with suitcases and backpacks all the time. Only other thing close would be a suburban but you'll drop gas mileage.
