traction control? In Florida it is a must for the rain. Ass end of the trucks are lite.

Its only as important as the number of times it would help, which depends on your driving style, how you use the truck, and personal preference. If you pull boats out of the water its pretty useful. Its relatively easy to spin a tire with the V8 taking off from a stop light or sign, but if you drive/accelerate conservatively not that big an issue. There are several threads about that contain discussions on the topic. You can add one later, about $800 I think.

If you are buying a 4X4 with auto four wheel as a choice it's not as important as on a two wheel drive.

4-auto will keep you from having issues in rain and snow when driving sensibly.

I'd call it a necessity on two wheel.

If I were ordering a 4X4 with auto I'd put it on but my 14 Sport 4X4 doesn't have it and does well in rain and snow in auto.

Honestly, the traction control on the truck does a pretty good job at applying brakes on the free spinning wheel and the other picks up the slack.

This is not as good as the limited slip, but it gets the job done.

I would still prefer the anti spin over an open diff though.

I generally don't like them on 4-wheel drive. My old truck lost a rear-end and I had one installed because it was virtually the same replacement price. The rear-end of that truck would slide out when I lost traction (both tires) and the ass-end would slide towards the ditch in the winter going up a steep hill that went to our old house. Four wheel drive would help but I always preferred the old one where I'd lose traction in just one-wheel and the truck would still track straight.

I have a 2-wheel drive now and don't have to deal with the same hill. I have no limited-slip and I wouldn't want it. But if you have the right situation like towing or you want to take it off-road with tires lifting and such.... it might be a good thing to have.

It all just depends on how you use the truck. I'm a road warrior so I don't need nor want it.

When I bought my truck it had the open diff and I had the rear axle rebuilt and had a oem limited slip added and it's day and night to me. Truck drives better imo with the power of the hemi I could feel the passenger side trying to push the truck under hard accleration now it pushes stright and true. To me it's a way better feel and in the rain or snow it does help

Like mentioned above it has a lot to do with what you use the truck for but I really regret not getting the anti-spin. I pull my boat a lot and where I launch my boat usually isn't a clean concrete ramp and I find myself having to use 4wd a lot more than on my previous trucks or my buddies trucks. In 4wd I have no issues going but it makes it harder to make tight turns. Oh and when you literally get stuck in wet grass its kind of annoying/embarrassing.

Occasional snow and ice here so I wouldn't have a truck w/o anti-spin. Also towing a trailer through dirt campgrounds--it really helps.

Anti-spin and traction control are two totally different animals.

Anti-spin is also optional....traction control isn't.

Anti-spin is a hardware thing installed in the rear diff that uses clutches or gears to equalize traction side to side when wheel rpm differs more than a given amount.

Traction control is a computer thing that uses the brakes to equalize traction side to side when it senses wheel speed differences.

Anti-spin will not kill engine power anymore than is needed to power both wheels.

Traction control can & will kill engine power (drastically in some cases) if it thinks it needs to, and will use fuel & spark to accomplish it.

Agree.

Basically - if you have 4x4 you don't need anti spin. If I had to choose between 4x4 and anti spin I'd get the anti spin.

If you are ever going on dirt get anti spin.

better to have it and not need it then to end up wanting it and having to shell out way more then needed. IMO no truck should be made without it.

That is because the new trucks that HAVE the anti-spin differentials are now longer sitting on the car lots but in someone's driveway.

Not unlike extremely beautiful women. we all know they do exist. Yet, when actively looking for one, they are few and far between or someone else already has them.

Choose Wisely . . . .

FYI, I love my Anti-spin and have always preferred anti-spin, form my Old GTO to my pickups. Mostly for the sheer Hell Yeah fun factor....though ti is darn handy on the boat ramps too.

I have an open diff and I haven't had any issues getting through two Buffalo, NY winters. With that said, if given the choice I would get the anti-spin, but it wouldn't stop be from getting a truck without it.

interesting... on the 4x4 Heavy Duty 2500s, when you get the 4.10 gears, you automatically get the anti-spin diff...

The question I have is why?

Because that is a WORK TRUCK, Anti-spin lets it work.

Bottom line, read any threads about folks complaining about their anti-spin and wondering how to switch?

Read any threads about folks who do not have anti-spin and want to switch?

Case closed.

Like those 3;21 gears. Quite a few folks love them.
No one asks how to switch over to them though
and tons of threads asking how much to switch from 3:21 to 3;92's.

Again, case closed.

I personally would never buy a truck that was not a 4X4 with the anti slip rear end. With the 5 months of winter driving/snow in my area it is the only way to go.
