I have a loose connection at the key with the ignition module, and if you move the key a little bit it will work.
An electronic mechanic showed me that my ignition module was repaitred years ago by the last owner, with solder bridges and it worked; now is telling me that the other option is to pay a new ignition module $500, programmed by the dealership, and new key, programmed by him, labor will be $400 dlls., so Im skipping this $900 dlls expense, and looking to trade in my truck for a 2016 ram 4x4
The only difficult thing to find is one with the ram box.
Ideas ?

Idea on repair, look for a salvage yard and buy one there, odds are it will be fine. Not sure what year truck you have but I have seen Ram boxes available at salvage yards and in Craigslist. If otherwise you like your truck you may find it cheaper to get a Ram box bed and have it painted. What you lose on your trade in and taxes plus cost to upgrade, might be worth it to investigate and you might figure in some recoup if you sell your bed after. I swapped out my 8 foot rusted bed with a rust-free (not Rambox) for about $1200 or so including paint, installation and they got rid of old one. Good luck

I already did the ignition module swap 3 times, using an ignition module from junkyard and nothing.
The mechanics are telling me that the programming is based on the VIN number of my truck, and the ignition modules only work with certain serial number ranges. I have spent $200 dlls. already trying. That's why the only option left is the one using anew from factory ignition module.
