Well I went and bought the tags for my truck today. I seriously think I lost a piece of my soul. $956 worth of my soul. It didn't cost as much as I thought it would so that's good. I need beer.

LOL at least you won't need to pay each year for an inspection.... Just think in 45 years you'll save that money back.

That's not too bad. I haven't had a tag under a grand in a long time. LOL.

I'm not. I may be the minority here, but I wish we had state inspections again. There are so many vehicles on the road that shouldn't be. Inspections won't eliminate this but I think it would help. Little stuff like brake lights that nobody seems to ever check. I can't tell you how many times I pull up behind a car that has ONE out of FIVE brake lights working. If I were to rear-end them, guess who would be at fault?

Yea I was thinking it would be at least $1100 but I was surprised that it wasn't. I completely understand your point on state inspections and how they would be beneficial. It just sucks for the people that do take care of their vehicles and stay within legal bounds.

That's crazy. What state. In Illinois I pay $98 a year or something like that.

What really sucks is the people that will not pass will find ways around it. Another pet peve of mine is people not buying thier tags. I see cars rolling around all the time with paper tags that are months past dues. I'd get busted on day 31. LOL. OK, I'll stop ranting.

Is that a yearly tag?

No, just the initial tag, which is mostly the excise tax. Tag renewals are about $100 each year. I assume that you guys that don't have expensive tags are paying taxes on your trucks when you purchase them?

Gotcha. Here the initial TTL is all done with the dealer.... No way around it.

I've written a check with a comma to the Oklahoma Tax commission EVERY year for the last 6 years. It gets old very fast. Really need to stop buying new vehicles. LOL

I live in the ****-me-in-the-ass state, over 11% in fees on purchase (includes sales tax, licensing, etc..), over $400 a year for registeration, and then add the smog/carb ****: restrictions, emmission testing, fees, etc..

Oh, and $120 a month for insurance on my Ram: almost 40 years old, no tickets on my record, no accidents EVER... :**** Eater:

Amen, but it's one of those things I always overlook when buying, then 29 days later, rut row.

Wow, it's like $88 for a two year tag in MO, and I thought that sucked. Well, it does, but less than $100 a year or more. Of course, it has nothing to do with age, so my 18 year old van costs the same to renew as the 07 and the 13.

Man after reading some of your prices and stipulations for everyone's states I'm glad I live in Oklahoma!! We just have to pay the initial excise tax when we go to register the vehicle and it's around $100 to renew each year.

You come survive one of our 6-7 month winters (where you see Celcius and Farenheit get together at -40) and THEN tell us why it's so expensive there again. It's worth the $$ IMO.
