Hello-

2013 Ram 2500 HD Tradesman, 5.7 L Hemi.

Little confused about grease fittings/greasable-non-greaseable in the context of my:

1. Driveshafts
2. U-joints at each front wheel

The shop manual states to lube the driveshafts on the Diesel model at an interval, but no mention of the Hemi models.

I do understand what the needle type fitting looks like and how to locate it.

I searched and found no grease fittings of any type.

Is that by design?

Some are sealed and non-serviceable. I was actually going to post a thread on a similar subject because I'll be lubing everything that can be in about two weeks and I don't want to miss anything. The PO replace the factory sealed ball joints with greaseable ones. But I have not gone looking for u-joints or know if there is anything besides the steering components that should be greased.

1500's don't have any greasable zerk fittings
I haven't seen any, but then I wasn't searching either. Guess next time under the ride I'll bring a good light and look for chits and giggles, lmao. I do need to pull all 4 tires on my 06 stock trailer and do bearing MX, would get done if my back was not talking right now, LOL.

I know, but fer chits and giggles I will go under the truck when back not screaming at me and look. Just have to park on slope twice to get far enuf under. Besides, does not hurt to look under your truck once in a while, just saying...

I nearly shat myself when I called my local dealership for the price on the OE u-joints.

$140 ea. x 3. RockAuto was about $100 each if I recall correctly.

They must be lubricated with unicorn shizz, lol.

No Unicorn shizz. Just "lifetime"... Like so much else. As in "the lifetime it lasts..."

I'd rather lube joints, and points yearly or at oil changes than the LIFETIME BS. Seems there were a lot less failures when everything was lubed, as opposed to the lifetime BS. Maybe just my perception.

I 100% agree. I would MUCH rather have to crawl under and shoot some moly lube in every 6 months, versus our current "replace when it fails, but f- you on trying to KEEP it running" model.
