Started off last Wednesday from SW Missouri, and stayed overnight in KC with some family. Then traveled to Limon, CO KOA and stayed Thursday night. Got to our destination in Estes Park by noon. Just beautiful here! Drove around Rocky Mountain National Park, and took a day trip to ride the Cog railway up Pikes Peak. Also did a full day ATV ride, and couple hours horse back riding. Got to see herds of elk, a few moose, and lots of other wildlife. Having a great time camping!
I think we are going to list our camper when we get back, just to get something hopefully lighter like a Ultra Lite, with a slide out. The 2016 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 pulled just fine though.
You might remember my first post after buying the camper and discussing hauling this travel trailer. Here’s the link…

Great pictures. It is beautiful out there that's for sure. I loved living there but the taxes, cost of living, traffic, and politics drove us away a couple years ago. Couldn't take the Kalifornication any more.

If you're still there take the peak to peak over to Nederland then trip up to Caribou. It's been a few years since I've been up there and I probably wouldn't take the trailer up the dirt road, maybe leave it down in town. The area up there is great. We used to camp in Caribou on the 4x4 trails.

Oh yeah and since you're right there, Trial Ridge Rd, highest paved road in the US. Gotta be able to say you've been up there.
Yep! Done that probably 4 times now including this morning. Saw a herd of horned sheep!

You are right. Colorado is a nice place to visit but PLEASE DONT MOVE HERE. WE ARE ALREADY RUINED BECAUSE OF THE INVASION OF PEOPLE MOVING HERE. I've been looking at somewhere reasonable to move to but havent found much we are interested in.

I hear you Sir. Sad to say but its everywhere anymore. Tons of people moving into my area from MD. Not good. Soon won't be any open farmland left. It's sad.

Pueblo West haddent thought about that local in many years.
Used to go out there when the Country Dance hall was active and out to the reservoir.
Worked outside of Pueblo for a few years back when they were trying to collect the methane off the old landfill and convert it to diesel fuel.

I remember when they tried to collect the methane. Must not have been cost effective.

The highest paved road is Mount Evans at 14,130 feet. It can be accessed by nearly anyone with a working 2WD low clearance usually from late May to mid October. The Mount Evans Scenic Byway, just 60 miles west of Denver, is the highest paved road in North America. A day trip to the top is a journey that snakes and climbs through nearly 9,000 feet of elevation gain, from the high plains of Denver through five climate zones to the 14,264-foot summit of Mount Evans, one of 54 peaks in Colorado that soar to 14,000 feet and above – the famous “fourteeners.”

Sheesh, ok, Highest "continuous paved" road in the US. I mean I used to drive it several time a year before we moved and became flat landers.

Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the United States. Known appropriately as the “Highway to the Sky,” it crosses the Continental Divide at a whopping 12,183 feet. Colorado has also designated Trail Ridge Road as a scenic and historic byway.

Baltimorons or from other parts of MD? Cumberland valley folk are ok.

We left CO after 36 years in 2008. Our entire block was up for sale. Litterally every single house had a for sale sign. We landed in Baltimore for 3 years where my sone was born then to CT for 2 years and couldn't wrap my head around those people and the **** for taxes, so we bailed and found FL. Where we're at now reminds me a lot of CO, pre Californication, without the mountains but added humidity.

Sadly Baltimorns....yes western MD is totally different.

My wife likes FL and we move there someday. The township I live in was once full of dirt roads...now they seem to be in a contest to develop everything.

I don't see why everyone wants to live on top of everyone else. It's not that great here. Oh well, it is what it is..but its ashame

First, sorry, I didn't mean to set you off. It depends on semantics, I suppose. I would describe Mt. Evans as "continuous paved" too, since there are no areas of gravel or dirt. I suppose Mt. Evans is different from Trail Ridge since Mt. Evans terminates at the parking lot just below the peak, instead of connecting with some other road like Trail Ridge does. Maybe that's what they mean. The elevation difference is significant too. Trail Ridge tops at 12,182, Mt Evans at 14,130. Just clarifying for everyone.

I think the difference is Trail Ridge is a scenic road that actually goes from place to place and is a thru road.
Mt Evans is a drive up - oh,ah look around drive back down road - that enables people to do one of the 14k peaks without hiking up them :) Sort of like a long paved driveway.

Both are usually closed when I get to visit Colorado :(

Fall River road looks like it would be a good drive too.
