I'm going to be swapping my Borla out for a 14 inch maggy but wanted to get some input first.

The guy at my muffler shop said the reason the stopped carrying magnaflow is because the welds between the neck and case were breaking after about a years time due to weight/lack of support and because they are welded flush to the case. Borla apparently has their necks sit inside some so they haven't seen this problem.

Has anybody had or heard of this problem? Maybe it's been resolved since then?

Had a Magnaflow for 3 years, different brand of truck, but still welded the same. No issues whatsoever.

If there wasn't Flowmasters already on the truck, I'd probably be looking at Magnaflow again. Great tone.

I've NEVER heard of anything like that. I've had a Magnaflow muffler on my car for 12 years now. Driven every day through rain and snow.
It was in such good shape they reused it after my mig joints gave up, and welded it in to new pipe. Like new.

Well I guess they were blowing smoke up my ass.. Once I get my tax return I'll be getting a 14 inch maggy. Can't wait to see how much deeper it will sound!

I have actually seen it, but with more than just mf products, dynomax to name one.
Most recent example was a mf catback on an 08 ram 1500 qcsb 4x4 hemi. Single 3" catback with about 18 to 20" oval ellipse muffler style, not the round one anyways and yea it gad a 1cm horizontal crack just about under the weld on the outlet.
Now judging by the overall condition of the system id say it was as old as the farm truck (a shame, a nice red sport edition with the now broken skirts and srt10 hood)

Wouldnt stop me from going mf, anything thats not well supported will move a little bit and over time it cracks

I have had the 14 inch MF on my RT for two years with no problems.
When I stomp on it makes it the Hemi Sound like it should!

Just try and add support wherever you can so it's not hanging a bunch of weight off the muffler and you should be fine.

I think you're going to like it, I made the same swap a few months back. Much deeper and meaner, IMO (I also got rid of the resonators and threw on 5" tips at the same time).

Do you get much drone without the resonators? Been thinking of doing the same thing with mine.

Honestly I do notice a little more drone. It seems to be hit or miss though, my buddy has the same muffler and didn't have any drone when he removed his resonators.

I just open my cutout for a bit and I don't even notice the drone after I close it back up, lol.

Just ordered the 14 inch from moes, I'm hoping it won't take a week to get here. I really want to get it installed by Friday so I don't have to wait through the weekend

I heard a 14in maggy on another 4.7 and it was a lot deeper and a little louder than my Borla. I'm just going for the sound change, performance wise it should be the same

Got it installed last week, sounds great. It's actually quieter inside the cab than the Borla, and sounds a little deeper. I'm happy
