My 4th gen(17) is around 16k miles. What are some recommendations regarding maintenance?

There is a table in your vehicle manual that contains all the info you seek. Asides from your oil changing intervals i don't beleive you have to worry about much at 16k miles.

I think the front and rear diff fluid is recommended before 20k. But I could be wrong.

you should be at the last of your oil, tire rotations inspections at that mileage (24,000Km in manual which is about 15,000 miles). Next one is a maintenance schedule 3 item at about 20,000 miles which is the same as above plus replace cabin filter (if you have), adjust park brake and service brakes and lube caliper sliders as needed.

front and rear diff is at about 30,000 miles.

I had my alignment checked at Firestone and they recommended the rear diff fluid. But my owners manual states to change it at those times only if heavy towing or using in fleets. But it never states when to change it for regular use.

So which is it?

me, I'd go by the maintenance manual. You know you are fulfilling the warranty requirement. Many do think that or less is excessive. it's probably going to take me 3.5 to 4 yrs to put the mileage on before I have to change them so not a biggie to me at that interval.

On my Tacoma, I went 45,000 miles between diff oil changes. Then again, I also forgot an oil change completely and went 22,000 km (15K miles) between and when I took it in, the oil was clear. I was probably in more danger of clogging my filter. Don't think I'd do that with my Ram. lol

My manual states "Inspect the transfer case fluid, change for any of the following: police, taxi, fleet, or frequent trailer towing" at 60,000 miles.

i don't think I've got that far yet. that's about 100,000km. That will probably be 11 or 12 yrs of driving for me! I hope to have been a new vehicle for yrs by then:)
