making nerf bar-step shine??

The nerf-step or whatever it's called is a really fake looking chrome on my new Express. Looks like it is dull. Also, looks like swirls or spotting on it.
Always used the padding to put my feet on when getting in truck.
What do you guys use to make them clean and shine?

If they are like the chrome clad wheels type chrome I'd treat them just like the painted surface of your truck. Clean them up real good then put a good coat of sealant on them and then some wax over the sealant.

I put wax on it and did not let it haze, went to wipe it off before it dried and had a problem getting the wax off. Left terrible streaks.

Have not had any experience with their wax.

You may have to resort to something like washing with Dawn soap to strip it off, and start over. Make sure there is no rust spots or other contaminants before apply whatever protectant you choose.
Have you looked into a chrome wheel wax?

These steps are new. Truck has only 400 miles.
No rust. Tried stainless steel spray polish to no effect.
