I have been researching ways to change out the map light due to dimming a flickering, and kept seeing that you had to replace the entire console or cut off the plastic pegs. I found another way on my 2018 Ram 1500 Sport with the LEDs. If you stick a trim tool in between the black plastic and gray plastic (at least on mine) on the rear (towards the tailgate) about an inch away from the left and right sides, you can pry the tabs out which will expose the lights. There are little tabs you have to manipulate on the lights themselves to get them out, but it is entirely possible to do so without replacing the entire console or cutting from above. I ordered LED Bulb 194 from Lasfit based on recommendations and will let you know how those work. I'm attaching pictures to show what I'm talking about.
