Mast antenna?

Does every 2013 ram 1500 come with a mast antenna? I was at the dealership yesterday trying to work out a deal and I noticed that the Laramie in the showroom had one. When I asked if the longhorn had its antenna embedded in the windshield, I was told no. That's so surprising to me. The vehicle is so packed with tech and luxury features, I'm stunned that it has a mast antenna. I can't remember the last car I had with one. It might be my first car I bought in 1985 or so, a 1975 ford granada that I bought as for $500 -- into which I promptly installed a $500 stereo!

Anyway, I thought I'd confirm on thus forum since the dealer didn't have any longhorns on the lot.

Yep, they still use the mast antenna. What's worse is the location of the receiver for the satellite radio/navigation/etc. On my 13, it is at the front of the cab right above the driver. It is the only complaint I have about mine. Wish I could move it to a better location, like toward the back of the cab above the 3rd brake light. That ********* block really stands out on a white truck.

the antenna sucks i agree. i installed a black 13 inch one... but if all we really have to complain about is the fact the trucks have an antenna, or a bad location for the sat antenna... we are doing well! at least our trucks don't say F*** or G** or C**** hahaha

They have to cut corners somewhere. It is pretty stupid though.

Both my 98 Grand Prix and my 01 Buick Regal I sold for the truck have antenna's in the windows.

I noticed that too while truck shopping. My Charger dosent have one, wonder why they kept it on the Rams..

There is something to be said for proven, if dated, technology. My wife's 04 Pacifica has and imbedded antenna. Reception is not great. I'm pretty sure that later years went to a stubby on the roof because the imbed was so poor--bet it made the glass expensive as h3!! to replace too.
